Getting one's grammar, vocab, etc. corrected easily - jettyke - 2011-06-12 Lang-8 is so tiresome. I try to correct every slightly longer message/e-mail before sending it and it takes a long time and is kinda demotivating lately. Anyone know any easier and faster ways of getting one's grammar or so checked before sending? In English we have spell-checker on when we type, but this kinda thing would be almost useless in Jap. And I don't know any good programs either. I wanna be confident in that I won't reinforce incorrect grammar when writing, and also that other people will find my messages easy to read. Getting one's grammar, vocab, etc. corrected easily - aphasiac - 2011-06-12 Language swap? form a close relationship with a Japanese interested in learning english (throught japanguide.com, lang8 or sharedtalk) and then agree to email each other stuff to correct on a regular basis? Either that is a Japanese significant other. Can't really see any other way apart from paying someone.. And of course there's also KWIC concordancing tools to quickly find examples, e.g. AntConc or GlobeFish's phrase validation and similar web stuff. Edit: Oops, forgot to mention why I pointed that out, I meant as a general principle to follow, might find stuff kept relatively minimal easier to produce, such as via microblogs/Twitter/etc. I also mentioned text-to-speech as proofreading in that o+N thread and also: proofreading with textaloud I also found this, but it has some of the same limitations I found with Globefish (and sadly TaylorDigital's Twitter search seems to be down, but Twitter has improved its Japanese exact phrase searching I think plus there's always Google Realtime): http://twitter.com/#!/ajatt/status/75166456123363328 Getting one's grammar, vocab, etc. corrected easily - jettyke - 2011-06-12 I like the TTS hotkey thing, didn't know about it. Realtime and JRek are also promising Getting one's grammar, vocab, etc. corrected easily - nest0r - 2011-06-12 I tend to use the Speak Text hotkey more than the Proofreading option (i.e. playing from the background vs. popping up a window and highlighting the text as it reads it), especially for sentences such as in the 8555 DOJG deck, though I think Proofreading can become more appealing when you're dealing with longer texts. |
