Hi, folks.

Does somebody know the name of those "calligraphy pens" (ink) you can buy in Japan?
I need one of those badly, but can't recall the name.

I used one for a while when I was learning to draw kanji. It was a bit different then the ones linked to above as it had a squeeze bulb built into it and was Japanese-made. (EDIT: the Pentel is made in Japan)

I replaced it with a typical 習字 kit that I put together from purchases at a local ひゃっきん for about $10. If this is what you are really looking for, consider buying a high quality 筆 instead of the ひゃっきんones as it will react to pressure better. Basically, crap brushes don't spring back as you lift them off the paper resulting in really crappy looking はね and はらい. hth

I think you need to be a little more specific. Are you talking about a brush? Self-inking brush? Long-tipped pen? If you're planning on practicing actual 書道, an actual brush is what you need.
