First I've heard of it, but my experience with graded readers has been good so far... At least for the stories I liked.

If anyone has recommendations for which stories to get, I'm all ears.

You can use Google translate on your iPhone, etc. to hear the audio from a sentence below 100 characters. Just set to Japanese-Japanese mode. <--- It's not great and, certainly, something you wouldn't want to learn from, but it will give you a general idea.
