Not much to do with time. Typically, either you keep up with politics, or you couldn't care less. I can't even name the current vice president of the United States. Since Obama didn't keep his promise to get America out of the Middle East, I don't care anymore either.

Although American politics is way more interesting to follow that Russian politics. I don't even know who represents my district in the State Duma. Heck, I don't even if we have electoral districts in Russia! Is Japanese politics any fun?

What promise was that, specifically? I'm not aware of him ever claiming he would get the US out of the Middle East within 3 years. Would have been pretty ridiculous if he did.

Ending our presence in Iraq was his main campaign promise, yet 48,000 troops remain. I have no idea why we are still in Afghanistan as well.

I don't think DrJones was right. (DrJones says "Don't use political figures! Your mnemonics will be obsolete TOMORROW!!!") If you ever knew CONDI RICE, you're probably not going to forget it anytime soon. The same goes for George Bush. I only use "George Bush" for one story though, worship. This is actually one of my favorite stories, "Some people worship "The Bush" but most people give him the finger and want to hang him from the ceiling."

We can only speculate, but my guess would be that Obama's trying to extend the war long enough until he can claim some sort of false 'victory' like he has with Iraq. Pulling out with the war being classed as a complete failure, as it always has been, could threaten his popularity.
