Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - Katsuo - 2011-03-23 The Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" has just been released with a 50% discount introductory price. Admin message: Please note this App is made by mirai llp. Feel free to share opinions and reviews, but please send them specific requests and troubleshooting via their contact page: http://www.mirai-llp.com/contact/ Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - gyuujuice - 2011-03-23 I will be definitely purchasing this! I have been wanting this for some time! (I have to manage my itunes account first -- I am thinking of creating a new account so I can purchase Japanese music or something. Could I purchase this through a Japanese account?) Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - digitlhand - 2011-03-23 What perfect timing... I'm in! Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - aphasiac - 2011-03-23 I don't get it - does this have built in SRS? Or is it just meant as a replacement for the book? Can you at least enter your stories? Looks like it has kanji readings and groups, i,e, the useful bits from RtK2. Might be worth it just for that. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - prink - 2011-03-24 I wasn't even doing RTK, but I am now. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - Eadwyn - 2011-03-24 As soon as I saw the part that it includes stroke order animations I decided to purchase the app. Not only does it do animations but it also let's you toggle from "animation" to "practice" mode where it will allow you to draw on the screen (with a toggle-able button to have the kanji in the background or not). I think this will be an awesome tool to go along with the book. I'll be able to read the lessons in book format at home and then in my free time at work can use this as a reference when doing my SRS. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - zachandhobbes - 2011-03-24 Woah, this is really cool! wait a sec - is this hosted by the author of the book? Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - ファブリス - 2011-03-25 It's developed by a third party. It's not "hosted" by Heisig or his university since it's an iOS app sold via iTunes Store. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - aodeur - 2011-03-25 Hi, does anybody know if there's any chance to see this App on other platforms (Android, WebOS)? Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - mcaruso - 2011-03-25 I'm not very impressed with the app so far. It's nice to have an app that is able to display kanji in Heisig's order, with Heisig's keywords and primitives, but overall the app feels pretty shoddy. For instance, the flashcard system seems to only review from kanji -> keyword, and it loses my progress every time I leave the "Flashcards" page. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - dgoldste2 - 2011-03-28 I am currently using gflash, a flashcard app for the iphone that turns google doc spreadsheets into flashcards. So far I have turned the first 23 lessons of RTK1 into google doc spreadsheets. When I have some free time I will make the google docs public and share the link. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - ファブリス - 2011-03-29 @dgoldste2: Good for you. If you have nothing to say about the official app for Remembering the Kanji, please post in another thread. If you want to share a Google Spreadsheet it would be better posted in the "Learning Resources" forum. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - AdachiFan - 2011-03-29 Whilst the app looks nice I don't think I'll be grabbing it as yet. I already have Anki and I can't see how this improves over it. If they sold it with the stories or gave the option to buy the stories as an in-app purchase, I would probably buy it. I understand it would cannibalise sales of the books but if they charged it accordingly, I think it could work. Anki is selling at £15 (albeit with a free desktop client) so I don't see why people wouldn't pay around the same for RTK stories. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - dgoldste2 - 2011-03-29 @Administrator: sorry I didn't make myself clear enough. The reason I advise people to use gflash and not this official app is that this app only allows one to study from the kanji to the keyword - the exact opposite of the way Heisig recommends reviewing the kanji in his book. If this is not changed I will have to request a refund from apple. I'd suggest mailing the developer with a suggestion to add a keyword-to-kanji review to their flashcards. They seem open to feedback; the app has already been updated with a "Randomize Cards" function based on someone's request. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - animehunter123 - 2011-03-30 Hi! This is a good application!!! Thanks so much!!! Wonderful Application! Request: -------- Can you please add the RTK3 and Supplemental Kanji? Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - ファブリス - 2011-03-30 @animehunter123: this app is by MIRAI LLP Although it's possible they are reading this (they are a sponsor since this weekend), I think it'd be better to send specific requests and bugs to thier contact page: http://www.mirai-llp.com/contact/ Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - marcmiddag - 2011-03-30 I just sent them an email. I think it is a really fantastic App being screwed by actually minor things like the Flashcards order being from Kanji to Keyword instead of Keyword to Kanji. Also I found the pop up notification when you add a kanji to the list, quite annoying. Having to acknowledge that a kanji has been added to the list as a "success" and having to touch "OK" for every one of the kanji's... But what I like at the app is the possibility to switch from the RTK1 to RTK2 with just one touch. It is great to see this in one place, especially for those who already finished their RTK1. That's a pretty big oversight for an official app unless Heisig decided to change the order in which you do them recently. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - PatrickW - 2011-03-30 If this App would sync with my stories that are stored overhere and if it would use the correct Keyword -> Kanji flashcard order, I would buy it without thinking, even at double the price. As it is now, I'm not interested. Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - haven9270 - 2011-03-30 Uh.... why isn't my flashcard progress getting saved? Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - JayRK - 2011-03-30 Hey Just saw the official app, haven't bought yet, but am tempted. To buy I think I would need a) Stories included (or ability to download stories from here, no way I can type 2000+) b) Keyword -> Kanji practice. c) iPad version (maybe thats just for me). Official App for "Remembering The Kanji" (iPhone, iPodTouch, iPad) - mwatts75 - 2011-03-30 I received a reply from MIRAI LLP support today saying that an update is currently with Apple awaiting approval. The update apparently includes Keyword --> Kanji flashcard capability.
