List of Free Audiobooks - egoplant - 2012-12-18 Would these even be good practice? A lot of them were written 100 years ago, and hasn't the Japanese language changed a bit since then? List of Free Audiobooks - tashippy - 2012-12-18 egoplant Wrote:Would these even be good practice? A lot of them were written 100 years ago, and hasn't the Japanese language changed a bit since then?to answer your rhetorical question: yes, i imagine the language is changing in some way as we speak and is never a static thing. however, a piece of literature written 100 years ago that people still read today must have something in it that's pretty special. being that a language is a living breathing changing thing, then studying the way the language was written 100 years ago you might learn some historical context for the words spoken and the kanji written nowadays. i learned recently while reading reading 坊ちゃん that 言う was written 云う. you will learn about the history of the language, the history of the culture. soseki's works are layered and multi-dimensional (might i say timeless?). i think understanding social commentary and subcontext in an out-of-copyright novel in a foreign language can be a pretty rewarding achievement. List of Free Audiobooks - sherlock - 2013-04-19 Thank you for this! I am thoroughly enjoying the Sherlock Holmes ones. I will read The Man with the Twisted Lip in parallel text. These are my very first Doyle "books" in Japanese. Really, really cool. List of Free Audiobooks - Surreal - 2013-07-09 The Librivox app for Android is great. You can set it to search only for specific languages, you can download books for offline listening(use the phone's "settings" button when you're at the content tab) and the only time you see ads is while you're browsing. Recording quality varies of course. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=biz.bookdesign.librivox It's also available for iPhones and it seems to work okay and should be the same, I haven't used it though https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/librivox-audio-books/id596159212?mt=8 List of Free Audiobooks - tashippy - 2013-09-27 Thanks for the app rec @Surreal. List of Free Audiobooks - tashippy - 2013-10-03 Does anyone know of a different audio reading of Ningen Shikaku? I'm not too keen on this lady. List of Free Audiobooks - ajtressler - 2013-11-25 This isn't really on topic, but I don't think it's worth starting a new thread for my question. Can anyone tell me whether there's a Japanese audiobook for The Hobbit? I'm even willing to pay actual money for it, but so far I've been unable to confirm whether it exists. Thanks for your help. List of Free Audiobooks - tashippy - 2013-11-25 I'm pretty sure there is no audiobook for The Hobbit or any Tolkien books. List of Free Audiobooks - ajtressler - 2013-11-29 That's the conclusion I was drawing already and it doesn't look like anyone is going to contradict you. I guess I'll have to decide on a different book to use. Thanks for the reply! List of Free Audiobooks - jessem - 2014-01-21 Sorry, I can't figure out how to get the audiobook for Ningen Shikaku. I just get a file I can't play. Tashippy requested an alternate version as well - anyone know a second source? Also, does anyone have the translated text for Ningen Shikaku? Thanks for your help! List of Free Audiobooks - buonaparte - 2014-01-22 There are two more recordings of 人間失格 Ningen Shikkaku, read by kazetotanpopo and saran-ai - no idea if they're still online. As to http://www.koetaba.net/3book/dazai/ningen/ningen.html - there are two files there: .ram and .rm. .ram is a text file, it contains something like this: rtsp://real.nifty.com/RealDocs/koetaba/2book/dazai/ningen/ningen1.rm .rm is an audio file. There is a good professional recording of 斜陽 Shayō by kotobanomori. No idea if it is still online. I remember posting it somewhere with a Japanese and English texts. List of Free Audiobooks - jessem - 2014-01-24 Thanks for the speedy responses! Tashippy, I'm familiar with Ningen Shikkaku in English, so I figured it'd be good to read in Japanese. Eslang, that's great to hear! Could you email me the links, or at least point me in the right direction for finding them? I tried googling around but I don't quite know what I'm looking for (what site "kazetotanpopo" is from or if I'm just hunting for misplaced mp3's). Thank you! List of Free Audiobooks - tekcop - 2014-12-10 Does anyone have the audio to Akutagawa Ryunosuke's Kappa? The link is down. I've found a few other versions online, but only one is complete and the woman reading it sounds like she's competing to see who can read the fastest. To add actual content to this thread, here's a YouTube channel with a ton of audio books including the one I just complained about. I haven't checked out more than a few, but some of them are very good. She doesn't always read super fast. There's a Brothers Karamazov one that I'm definitely going to have to listen the whole way through soon. https://www.youtube.com/user/maguchiish/videos List of Free Audiobooks - buonaparte - 2014-12-10 http://users.bestweb.net/~siom/martian_mountain/!UPDATES/Akutagawa%20Ryuunosuke%20-%20Kappa%20peperoncino.7z The recording you want. Not the best ever, but good enough to listen to, as far as I remember. |
