I'll go ahead and add my backing of this statement since 16 years of my life was in Texas. But of course, Texas is a big state Wink

Not quite...

You *seem* to know a language that is considered desirable by many.

I'm Filipino, but even if I spoke English quite loudly in Japan, I've had people offer me English school flyers, and they've offered me the Chinese menu... or they just straight up speak Japanese and I have to apologize for not speaking it.

So I don't get charisma man effects =(

Lol, most hot girls in Japan work in the fashion industry or are students. Neither have enough money for English education. The ones that do have enough money for English education work a lot or are married to someone who works a lot. Probably 30% of the students I have taught in the past while have been "bone shatteringly hot", so there are some that break the mold (or maybe I'm just lucky).

Anyway, I don't know if the whole Gaijin guys/girls having more luck in Japan with the opposite sex is true or not, but from what I've heard it's probably not much different from back home for most.

Edit: I agree with what was said above about people wanting to talk to you because you speak a language they find interesting. This country is super monolingual and English talk time is quite restricted to conversation schools. For a lot of people having a conversation in English for free is something quite sought after. I think the same would apply if you were in the UK/USA and were learning Japanese.

Edited--I phrased it a bit too rudely the first time.

But my general point was that I think you're mistaken Cranks.

@kainzero

I seem to remember seeing a comment similar to this one.

No problem. It's really just my own opinion and not really the full truth (most observations are quite general by nature.) Thanks for rephrasing. I appreciate the simplicity of your reply.

Hehe, well let's just say that one of the places I'm working for right now seems to have a fair number of 20ish male/female students. I've been there for awhile, but not too long.
