A good number of particles don't have kanji (assuming you're not counting man'yogana), and there are a small number of other words that don't -- です is one that comes to mind. There's also ぞんざい and many of the gitaigo/giongo words as well.

also, i like seeing horse-deer every time somebody does something stupid...
