Apparently the Search Dog Foundation is forming new rescue dog teams, in part composed of dogs that were rescued. (Edit: Although I can't imagine they'd be used in current operations due to length of training, for one thing.)

NHK on ustream.tv is still available and they constantly talk about the same things, that makes it really easy to pick up new vocabulary even for beginners (like me). If you haven't done it already, I recommend you try. After a while it makes news about nuclear disasters almost comprehensible

yeah. i get the feeling their services are overwhelmed at the moment, and they can't evacuate any further. Though, if they can get the electricity working again soon, it's probably not necessary anyway, so i think that's what they're betting on.
they could make an advisary statement for pregnant women, children, and the elderly to leave the area temporarily if they can though, though it's not necessary, it's still good advice, i think...

@ta12121: this is also a good time to practise your translation, if you wanted to. People frequently request translations in english in real time, especially of the nuclear situation interviews. So you can practise translating in real time if you want. I did it one day, but i still have trouble with following many of the interviews in detail... edano is a little easier than 保安院 i think.

(As for translating in general, I've stopped worrying about it. The more you learn/keep learning, the easier translation get's in general. But obviously, if I want to be a professional translator, I'd have to take special courses in regard to that)
