If you haven't done it already, I recommend you try. After a while it makes news about nuclear disasters almost comprehensible

It's not anywhere near "WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE" levels, but it's high enough that you wouldn't want to live there for 6 months. Earthquake in Japan March 11th 2011 - IceCream - 2011-03-18 yeah. i get the feeling their services are overwhelmed at the moment, and they can't evacuate any further. Though, if they can get the electricity working again soon, it's probably not necessary anyway, so i think that's what they're betting on. they could make an advisary statement for pregnant women, children, and the elderly to leave the area temporarily if they can though, though it's not necessary, it's still good advice, i think... After a while it makes news about nuclear disasters almost comprehensibleBeen srsing a lot of news/listen to it, due to the incident that is happening in japan. It doesn't feel hard(news). All it takes is srsing/a lot of listening/reading and you'll get it all. Earthquake in Japan March 11th 2011 - IceCream - 2011-03-18 btw, you can follow the newest MEXT readings from this page: http://eq.wide.ad.jp/index_en.html it seems that some of the measurements have now reached 150microSv/hour northwest of the powerplant. http://eq.wide.ad.jp/files/110318fukushima_1900.pdf @ta12121: this is also a good time to practise your translation, if you wanted to. People frequently request translations in english in real time, especially of the nuclear situation interviews. So you can practise translating in real time if you want. I did it one day, but i still have trouble with following many of the interviews in detail... edano is a little easier than 保安院 i think. But by voice only, probably not(yet at least). I've been reading a lot via FNN news and asahi news sites. (As for translating in general, I've stopped worrying about it. The more you learn/keep learning, the easier translation get's in general. But obviously, if I want to be a professional translator, I'd have to take special courses in regard to that) Earthquake in Japan March 11th 2011 - vix86 - 2011-03-18 I don't think I saw anyone mention it (or maybe someone did and I missed it), but TBS has closed down their Ustream. Dam .I really hope the fact that NHK has 100,000 viewers mid day in Japan is enough indication for them to leave it up.
