RTK intergration with a class/tutor - guppy - 2006-07-05 Greetings all, I've been studying Heisig off and on for quite some time. I've actually gotten pretty far along recently until I started working with a tutor. When I started working with my tutor, my tutor insisted that we start Minna No Nihongo I (I was actually about to start book II) from the beginning learning all the kanji compounds for the vocabulary. While I really applaud my tutor for going where no other previous teacher has dared (insisting learning kanji prior to those introduced in the book) I wonder what this will do to my Heisig system. Previously, my Heisig kanji was essentially seperate from class kanji due to the fact I was at about 1500 and we were learning very, very basic kanji (???, etc). Therefore, there was no overlap or conflict. Personally, I think that I should continue and try to quickly finish up Heisig, then there shouldn't be an issue. What do you think? Any comments welcome
RTK intergration with a class/tutor - CharleyGarrett - 2006-07-05 I agree with you. Continue at as close to the same pace as you've been going in Heisig, with the idea of getting the writing's and keywords learned. At the same time, you can introduce the other kanji from the lessons (using Heisig like plots to remember them, maybe) and the specific readings that come along with them. The order of learning them will not be as efficient, since you'll see kanji with primatives that you haven't learned yet, that you won't get to until later, but it's not completely a bad problem. You can cope with it. RTK intergration with a class/tutor - ファブリス - 2006-07-05 I've discussed with someone who had the same problem before. That person went ahead and learned the kanji with higher frame numbers and backtracked for the necessary primitives and learn them as well. You may have to learn a bunch of primitives at one time, depending on which kanji you need. You will have to make some cards for these because on this website it's not possible to add cards in non-frame order. RTK intergration with a class/tutor - guppy - 2006-07-07 Thanks for the support and suggestions. I think that I'm going to try to learn the primitives that make up the new kanji and pray everything works out in the end. Hopefully, I won't get too overwhelmed with primitives... |
