Just thought I'd point out that someone added a Book/Text Importer plugin to Anki's shared section. It's for English, and you paste in some text, select tags, and hit Import, and it creates cards by parsing a single instance of each word and placing that word on the Front, then the sentences it occurs in are listed, with links to online dictionaries at the bottom, on the Back.
Could this be done with Japanese + Mecab in some form or another, in addition to or integrated with current tools and plugins? I quite like the simplicity of it.
Looking at what we have, seems we've got wrightak's Rikaichan mod for words and their sentences you encounter in the web browser and selecting and saving them for eventual import; you've got Yomichan for importing a text and as you read it, selecting its terms and directly adding cards. You've got overture's sentence glossing plugin to quickly select and gloss sentences from the Anki card browser. You've got cb4960's word frequency generator and whatever monstrous tool the mad scientist is bringing to life next.
But something streamlined for popping open Anki and pasting/importing text and instantly creating a Japanese vocabulary deck, we don't quite have that yet, do we?
Anyway, just thought I'd post it in case the programmer-gods missed it/might find some use for it.

Maybe you can ask Foosoft to add this functionality to yomichan?
Would make a lot of sense, I think. I don't know about how hard this would be, but I'd imagine it being easier to add this funct. to yomichan instead of creating a totally new plugin.

Oh yeah hmm... I'm already working on this for Yomichan actually. For Japanese at least. Being helpful to me is a very important deciding factor if a given feature gets implemented

Not quite
I'm working on just a bunch of random stuff for Yomichan right now in parallel, but it's one of those things. I'm also doing some crap for Kanji counting. I realistically only get any time to program on weekends so it will be a little while before big features like that ^^ Although sometimes when I'm doing my daily reading, if something annoys me enough I'll code up a fix for it just then hah.
