I got accepted to Study abroad. - NoSleepTilFluent - 2011-02-18 YAY!! I got accepted today to study abroad in Tokyo next year. Now I just gotta get all my paperwork together to apply again at the university. I didn't get the official Acceptance from the Japanese University yet but That should happen by the end of March. I'm so excited. My Study Abroad program at school pre-screens and then the Host university has the final say. It ask me how many Kanji I can read and How many Kanji I can write. I'm kind of lying by saying I can only write 400 but I think If they see I can only read 400 and write 2000+ they would give me Shhh about it. I'm not up to 2000 yet but I will be by the time I get to their university. I guess we'll see how I do on the placement test. I got accepted to Study abroad. - shinsen - 2011-02-18 NoSleepTilFluent Wrote:If they see I can only read 400 and write 2000+ they would give me Shhh about it.Their heads would explode. I think the implication of being able to write a kanji is that you can already read it, know a word that it's in, and write it on command. So if someone tells you to write the kanji for 薔薇, and you do, then you can write it. Just being able to write a character doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't use it properly. Have a good time, man. Enjoy your time, and take advantage of the situation to surround yourself with Japanese people and really improve. Break out of the gaijin bubble! You'll love it. Sure I'll associate with them in class and stuff but not going out of way to hang out with them is my goal. Two people from my school got accepted me and this other girl, who is admitted better conversationally than me in japanese. I can see myself hanging out with her and visa versa because we will both have japanese friends. I'm loving this feeling I can't wait I got accepted to Study abroad. - ta12121 - 2011-02-18 NoSleepTilFluent Wrote:Yeah I definitely don't plan to stay in the gaijin bubble.
