Italian resources - Splatted - 2011-02-16

I remember someone posting a little while ago that they were starting Italian, and asking about any good resources people knew. I'm starting Italian as well, but I can't find the thread. Does anyone have it bookmarked/ can anyone suggest some good resources?

I'm looking for:

an Audio learning course like Italian.pod but with less English
Word lists with sound
Grammar guide
Dictionaries (mono & bi)
Places to get Italian television online (Like d-addicts or dramacrazy)
Somewhere that teaches Italian spelling etc
A pronunciation course
Italian Books (preferably with audio & translations)
Anything else you can think of

Thanks for any help.

Edit: If anyone knows a good Italian learning forum, that would be great too.
Edit2: A place like the drama wiki on d-addicts (i.e. English descriptions of programs) would also be great.

tv/radio streams, web channels, podcasts, there's plenty of stuff for immersion.

I don't know about learning resources personally, but I think there is another italian member on this forum than can give you some pointers in that regard, seeing as he's studying to teach italian. Hopefully he'll notice this thread.

Google -> "tntscambio etico". It's a big community that has been created with the purpose of offering the opportunity to be updated in matters of culture, arts and works of the wit throughout the nonprofit sharing of works.

I know a friend of mine who knows a site to watch Italian television (lots of channel), I'll let you know.

Search on google "filmgratis.tv" there you have plenty of movies... no subs, sorry :/

Atm I really can't think of a link to learn pronunciation, I'll search for it but if I recally correctly I already had searched for it months ago and didn't find any result :/

However, you can use this site till you can read Italian : http://www.italian-flashcards.com/
I used it about one year ago with German and it was great.

Some web-based dictionaries ... In my opinion, these are the best. In fact they are the first 2 results in google Big Grin

http://www.dizionario-italiano.it/
http://dizionari.hoepli.it/Dizionario_Italiano.aspx?idD=1

Then you may also download lingoes 2: http://www.lingoes.net/index.html
Never tried any Italian dictionary but I'm using lingoes with JPN/Eng dictionaries and I'm fine, probably I'd say I'm even more than fine Big Grin

Actually, that's a funny thought.

Lol, I thought exactly the same thing. How are we supposed to memorise this meaningless bunch of symbols/sounds?

Really? I haven't found the italian one any better than the Japanese one, but I guess I'll perservere for a bit. It will probably get better in the more advanced lessons when the Italian:English ratio is better.
