Damn, that sucks -- I'm sure as HELL that you won't fail next time! Smile
ouch...

I met a girl today who is just starting her 3rd year of Japanese, has been studying Japanese full-time in University for 2 years (plus some before that in high school) and the difference in level was like someone who had been AJATT'ing for 1 year vs. someone who had been AJATT'ing for 5... even though we've been studying for roughly the same amount of time!
Depends how you measure time... really, a day for one person ≠ a day for another Wink

but anyway.. Congrats on the result! the rate you've improved is v fast for sure..!

Hey guys I decided I'll take JLPT level 1 this December. Just wanted to ask if you guys any tips to prepare. I'd say do all the past tests/read a lot/listen a lot? Look over audio/sample questions from past tests?

Anything would be helpful

I was working on a JLPT deck for anki but I feel lazy on keep working on it. So I want to do stuff outside the srs. I'd say read up on the grammar,exercises,read,listen/go over past tests sounds right to me...

Finally got my N2 results... 合格! 119/180, so semi-comfortable. Big Grin

Congrats to everyone else who passed (or even came close...).

I wasn't going to go for the N1 until the end of next year but now i'm re-thinking that... might as well give it a crack this year, hey.

If you can understand 90+% of native audio like you've said you can I don't think the listening portion should be a problem. Just practice reading (at good speed) while practising grammar and building vocabulary.

I pretty much listen all day to Japanese, so I definitely gotten used to listening to it/understanding it well. I'm focusing on a lot of reading via audio/transcripts. I'm looking of tae kim grammar again just to read up on the grammar(slowly adding it to my production deck,i.e. cloze deletion, small production, etc).

I choose December because I want to give myself plenty of time to get used to the format of the tests, etc. (I'm still considering to take it this summer, as I kinda want to know if I'll have JLPT done with by this year.

Taking it in the summer would mean going to Japan for it, right? I can't imagine it being that important unless you need to put it on your CV soon...

no no. I'm living in Canada at the moment. The test site isn't far from where I live, just a bus away actually.

ahhh, no wonder I haven't seen any posting online yet. Thanks for the heads up.
Guess I really have to wait till December since I'm not planning on going to japan just yet. Dang December does seem so far away when I think about it lol.

Which test site are you near?

I'm in the okanagan so I'd test in Vancouver, drive of a couple hours :p

I live in Ontario, GTA(Greater Toronto Area). I'm taking the test site at york university, which is not far away from me at all(30+ minute bus ride or by car it's a 20minute ride )

I'm lucky it's near me, I hear stories of people having to travel just to take it. Guess we can't take for granted for what we have(in this case, it's location)

Not true, the July test is given in other countries, mostly in Asia. New Zealand has one IIRC. Australia, alas, does not. Not that i really want a July test at present... I'd stand zero chance of passing N1 that soon lol.

And yes, i walked to the test venue in December... sometimes living in a largish city has its benefits...

Thanks! In past december I know I wouldn't be able to pass 3kyuu, but I'm sure that If I were to do it now I could.

Next goal is to have 2kyuu solid hability (grammar, vocab, reading etc) by June. Will take 2kyuu in december.

cool, nice mark. Almost prefect. I hope to do the same with JLPT 1 or at least get 80% or more

2010年12月 JLPT Results - dizmox - 2011-03-01

I hope to get exactly 100/160 on the JLPT1 so I can be satisfied I put the least amount of effort into it as possible. Tongue

2010年12月 JLPT Results - fakewookie - 2011-03-01

Passed N2 with 121/180. Yay! I was a bit worried I might have failed since I found it harder than I was expecting.

Congrats =D Hopefully mine will arrive tomorrow then ><

2010年12月 JLPT Results - stevesayskanpai - 2011-03-01

UK here. Passed N2 with 96. Not sure where to go from here - obviously not ready for N1 in a year (as I can't study full time, or even every day) - on the other hand, not willing to pay the same amount of money to take N2 again just to improve my score as some people seem to do.

Any advice for someone who wants to maintain/consolidate their N2 level in the next 12 months?
