List of extra kanji (RTK4) - thecite - 2011-01-27 Here's a list of extra kanji that I've gathered in my time studying, along with a story and keyword for each one. It's a 60 page word document with about 1, 000 extra kanji (haven't counted them exactly). http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z3GKPCV8 List of extra kanji (RTK4) - gdaxeman - 2011-01-27 That's very interesting and useful! List of extra kanji (RTK4) - thecite - 2011-01-28 Womacks23 Wrote:That's a whole ton of extra kanji. Nice upload. My Japanese level is pretty good; I'm not one for false modesty, so I'd so 'advanced' or something like that. That being said, I'm still constantly picking up new vocab, but your average adult knows tens of thousands of words, idioms etc, so I'm expecting that to continue for a while. To put it in more concrete terms, I have 11, 600 cards in my sentence/ vocab Anki deck, and know over 4, 000 Kanji (I know quite a few 旧体字 that I've never bothered making stories for, and also picked up a few hundred kanji from Rick Harbaugh's Zhongwen before giving up.) I can hold a conversation with a native with ease, and understand most things hearing them the first time round ( I mean a topic like science or perhaps history would trip me up with some difficult vocab, and people that mumble can be tricky as well). Some of my Japanese friends tell me I sound just like a native, accent and usage. Vocab and idioms are my weakest points. List of extra kanji (RTK4) - mizunooto - 2011-01-28 That's amazing. thecite=**Kanji Hero**! I want to do this for Kanji up to the limit needed, say, for the Kanji Kentei Level 1. That's about another 2000 or so. (Whatever would be a plausible collection of characters for some hypothetical super-literate person). So if there are any more Kanji Heroes out there with Big Lists like thecite, let us know! (I decided this last night and already you have done 30% of it!) I have read the other thread about Kanji beyond RTK (I can't find it now though I have it all saved on my computer). We must be getting quite a comprehensive list by now (albeit only of the characters themselves, past a certain point). edit: found that thread: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=3838 List of extra kanji (RTK4) - thecite - 2011-01-28 mizunooto Wrote:That's amazing. thecite=**Kanji Hero**!Thanks. Beware that some of the kanji in that list are pretty obscure and might not even be in the Kentei. List of extra kanji (RTK4) - mizunooto - 2011-01-28 I'll beware...It's important to know what we're learning. List of extra kanji (RTK4) - thecite - 2011-01-28 Megaboyx also seems to have a tonne of stories for extra kanji, you could try asking him. List of extra kanji (RTK4) - yudantaiteki - 2012-01-10 Scanning through the document, there seem to be a few errors, and those mnemonic stories often connect to the meaning of the compound rather than the kanji itself, but maybe that's not a problem. I really think when you reach this point you should be learning kanji from your own experience, not off an arbitrary list made by someone else. List of extra kanji (RTK4) - thecite - 2012-01-10 I deliberately made the keyword represent the most common use of the kanji, couldn't see any point in learning obscure meanings that were no help. Thanks. Both spreadsheets linked above should contain the content: spreadsheet (Katsuo) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18SaMSqYfOax7lmyUnVP-VGpoAxDo_d_pwLmitz8KMlQ/pub?hl=ja&hl=ja&output=html (animehunter with sample words) RE: List of extra kanji (RTK4) - KameDemaK - 2016-03-17 OK, so I'm guessing those are thecite's stories then? Thanks. Does anyone have the original document though? I guess it wasn't a spreadsheet, and who knows, spreadsheet format is not always the most useful format (although I admit it normally is very useful). Imagine that I decide to print the document. Leaving aside that spreadsheets are sometimes a pain to print because of the page boundaries, I would rather study the Kanjis one by one in a format similar to Heisig's RtK instead of a spreadsheet where I can barely see the Kanji because the font is too small. Maybe I'm weird though and I should study with the spreadsheet. Spreadsheets can also be easily exported to a format for loading into flashcard software (like Anki). |
