Test yourself - Nagareboshi - 2011-01-26 While browsing the web i found some material of interest at the Birkbeck University Japanese placement test website. I thought it would be worth to share them. The tests are aimed at almost every level of knowledge from beginner to the intermediate learners. Japanese 2 - 3 *click me* This test is at a pretty basic level. With at least the knowledge of Genki I, Minna no Nihongo, or similar and vocab in your back it's doable and not very hard. Japanese 4-5 *click me* This test seems to aim at about the same level of knowledge. I have yet to try myself on that one. But i say, judging by the vocab, this might be aimed at those with Genki I / Genki II knowledge of Grammar and Vocab. Japanese 5 *click me* I think this one is for those at an intermediate stage of learning. The writing section sure is a tough one from just looking at it. All tests contain these points to work on: Grammar - fill in the blanks with the correct particle Verb conjugation Kanji - Provide the reading in Hiragana or Katakana Reading and understanding Write a Short Essay Have fun! Test yourself - london_lad - 2011-01-26 I study at Birkbeck doing a Linguistics and Japanese Degree as its an evening degree so I can carry on with my normal job. I think the levels are a bit higher then your evaluation.. I started at level 3 and we are half way though the second minna no nihongo book and the whole lesson is in Japanese including explaining grammar, vocab etc. We are also supposed to know almost all the kanji in basic kanji books 1 and 2. Its quite an interesting course for anyone living in London. I Think I got close to 100% in the level 2 test so they put me in level 3.. I didnt try the level 3 test.I think the classes are a bit harder then their tests though. Test yourself - Easytarget - 2011-01-26 Thanks, i like tests to see which way i should go with my studies. Always good to see diff. sources. Test yourself - Gingerninja - 2011-01-26 Judging by where I am the 4-5 test is prob to the end of Minna No Nihongo 2. I'm only halfway through it (chapter 40 stopped at this semester) I can am confident I'd get a high score at it. So learning the rest of the stuff should be able to ace it. Looking at 6, I can't say where that is probably a little further on from those books, but not so much that it'd be impossible to stumble through. Test yourself - wccrawford - 2011-01-26 Nice! I like to have things around that give me some indication of my skills. Test yourself - Taurus - 2011-01-26 Most, if not all (I've only had a quick look) of the test in the 'Japanese 5' link are lifted straight from the Kanzen Master book for the old level 3 of the JLPT (so N4, essentially). |
