Correct stroke count and order for "tug" (牽) #2550 - Boy.pockets - 2011-01-23

Hey,

I am getting confused with "tug" (牽) #2550. In RTK3, Second edition, he/she says "write crown after the first stroke of that for mysterious. Which would mean that before i complete the top hat, I am already starting on the crown. The dictionary I use all show a different stroke order (though I think they all use the same source). Check out http://www.jisho.org/kanji/details/%E7%89%BD for the stroke count.

My second problem is that although Hesig and the dictionaries say 11 strokes the dictionaries stroke order shows 12 strokes. I am guessing that this is just a mistake of the stroke order, but it is usually the other way around (ie, the font seems to be wrong, but the stroke order diagram seems to be correct).

Tanks.

Sometimes it's written like this, with 11 strokes.

According to the page below, there is an 11-stroke and a 12-stroke version (it shows stroke orders for both), but the 11-stroke version is currently correct:

I'm guessing Dr. Heisig meant to say start the crown after the 3rd stroke of mysterious (the 1st stroke of coccoon), but it seems that writing the crown after finishing 玄 is correct, and that does seem to make more sense.

Thanks for the fast reply. I think I will go with the 11 stroke version as it is displayed in the dictionary. I wish things were more standard. Since passing the 2000 mark, there have been many differences in Kanji between the computer fonts and the book.

cheers again.
