How to make a J-J Sentence Card? AJATT Example included - animehunter123 - 2011-01-16 Hi guys, I was wondering how you guys make J-J Sentence Cards? AJATT Made a good example pasted below, but I dont know how to use correct Japanese to translate the cards. Vocabulary cards are easy copy paste from goo.ne.jp or sanseido, but for sentences how do you guys do them? Here is his example: QUESTION (FRONT): How to make a J-J Sentence Card? Plus it really comes down to getting more used to japanese via immersion, reading, grammar, etc. Don't worry about monolingual. Take it slowly with basic words/sentences. And you'll eventually be able to get it. How to make a J-J Sentence Card? AJATT Example included - Javizy - 2011-01-17 If there's one thing I've learned from having J-J definitions on all of my vocabulary cards, it's that they're not always necessary. The J-E definitions for お前 and 何者 would be 10 times simpler for that card without any loss of meaning, and without necessitating a third definition unrelated to the sentence. I removed my definition field last week (saving 7MB), and now use Apple's cool URL scheme to look up the word in 大辞林 by tapping the reading. My cards are lighter and easier to speed through, but if I need to stop and clarify the meaning further, I have quick access to a full, nicely formatted definition that includes pitch accent details as well. ![]() ![]() Asides from making things bloated and inefficient, the sort of example you gave seems like overkill to me. I don't think you'd read any of it more than once or twice either. I end up breezing through sentences without even looking at the back, that's one reason I don't like using them for vocabulary. "Apple's cool URL scheme to look up the word in 大辞林 by tapping the reading" Hey... can you explain to me how you did that with daijirin and anki? That is soo cool!!!!!! If so, just add this link to your Lookup list. mkdaijirin://jp.monokakido.DAIJIRIN/search?text={0}&srcname=Anki&src=anki:// If you haven't noticed it yet, open your deck and go to Tools > All Actions > Lookup. You can add it to the quick bar to make it more convenient. That'll allow you to automatically look up the currently selected text in 大辞林. This is probably most useful for sentences. If you have a field with a single word, like my vocabulary deck, you can add the link to the card itself to make it even more convenient. Just enter the following link somewhere in your Card Layout (Tools > Deck Properties > Edit). Just change Expression to the name of your field, and 検索 to whatever you want to be hyperlinked (I used {{Reading}}). <a href="mkdaijirin://jp.monokakido.DAIJIRIN/search?text={{text:Expression}}&s rcname=Anki&src=anki://">検索</a> How to make a J-J Sentence Card? AJATT Example included - jcbot05 - 2011-02-27 Javizy, Do you know how this could be done with 大辞泉? I tried using the example that was in the anki information section for lookup but I couldn't get it working. I'm guessing that each app has a different url scheme but I can't find it for 大辞泉. Do you have any suggestions? How to make a J-J Sentence Card? AJATT Example included - ta12121 - 2011-02-27 I've noticed J-J get's easier as you are farther into Japanese. I don't have any trouble understanding J-J now but when I Started/made the switch. It was hard, really hard. You'll notice that you can understand Japanese on it's own, without an English translation with it. How to make a J-J Sentence Card? AJATT Example included - jcbot05 - 2011-02-27 Yea, I agree. When I was first doing core 2000, J-J was really hard and seemed like too much work but now I always have to get the J definition. I find that having the J definition helps me remember the word better as it usually provides more details or maybe it just forces me to really think about as opposed to one word english translation. If anyone knows how to setup the url scheme to use daijisen in anki mbile, please let me know! How to make a J-J Sentence Card? I had a bit of help from Damien as well. You could check the Anki forum to see if anyone's worked it out there. Otherwise you'd probably need to contact the developers or try to look for the code. Hopefully they'll make this feature more accessible in future. I'd like to add it to my news app and Safari. |
