@Delina - BTW, at least with the newest Synaptics drivers, you can customize the tap zones so that, for example, the top right tap-to-click zone is a middle click.

So I took a look at that "innocent books" thread and in the time it would take you to process all the bullshit and "wink wink, nudge nudge" material in that thread, you could probably learn Japanese and just start reading natively without any trouble.

Are people just googling these text files or is there some sort of repository somewhere?

Also, do you have any plans to add this plugin to Anki's Shared Plugins repository? I'd prefer downloading it from there to automate the process of updating the plugin in the future.

I'm sorry the thread wasn't clear enough for you. It was an entirely arbitrary crypticism, admittedly. We should've realized there are folks like you whose thread-processing is obstructed by long, wooden, irregularly shaped, cylindrical objects and need extra guidance. Good luck!

I have anki 1.2.4 and I'm getting a "can't open file for read" message when attempting to open an TXT file. Due to my limited computer skills I take it its probably my fault but I wonder how

There may be about 2.1gb of wink wink, nudge nudge of compressed text archives in that thread. It is definitely worth the effort. Adding Yomichan to the official Anki shared plugins is definitely something I want to do soon, but prior to that I want to create a better system for managing dictionaries. Right now the dictionary is hard coded in the plugin, so it would have to be downloaded from the Anki server along with the plugin. That kind of sucks and fixing it is my next goal, but up to now I've been focusing on functional changes. So yeah, it will get there in the next couple of weeks. Having a full time job, learning Japanese and writing code on the side can be rough sometimes Smile

That's pretty strange! You should try dragging the file onto the main window, see if you can get it to open that way (although it should be the same).

That's pretty strange! You should try dragging the file onto the main window, see if you can get it to open that way (although it should be the same).
Could be the encoding of the folder/filename. Try renaming/moving/etc. For me, if the folder/filename isn't unicode or whatever, it won't open.

BTW FooSoft, the 'open' dialogue always starts in the active deck's folder? I might prefer it to be the 'last used' folder or something customizable, myself.

Ah, good call. I always just use the recent files list myself or drag and drop Tongue

edit: Can you give an example of a path that won't open? In my tests everything works fine w/ unicode characters in the path. However my test coverage in non-linux environments is very light.

Works fine with or without unicode in the path? I'm saying that if, say, I had some hypothetical archived text file from another thread, and I extracted it and tried to open it with Yomichan, it wouldn't work until I renamed the folder and .txt, or renamed the .txt and moved it to a regular folder. For me, these location names are displayed as gibberish, which I take to mean they are non-unicode. I might've assumed it was just me as I use AppLocale rather than change my entire system locale, but if it happens to others, esp. Tolerance91, then it might be a more general issue with the program itself (i.e. whether it displays properly on the user's machine or not, if it's non-unicode it won't work), as Tolerance91 has I believe already changed their system locale.

I dragged the file as Foosoft said, changed the containing folder, changed format to unicode but it didn't work for me. I don't know =/

You couldn't just provide a link to the page of the thread in question, or the link to the archives themselves? I went through half of that thread and the only thing I found were a bunch of dead links on a link shortening service.

Nice find, it's hard to tell because the files are extracted rather than having the volumes compiled, but it might encompass the library that isn't posted on this forum. Too lazy to do a proper comparison. The good news about the extraction is that the filenames aren't gibberish as results when opening with winrar. I mean theoretically, because I wouldn't know what you're talking about.

Interestingly enough they're individual downloads though.they're not part files, so you don't have to combine all parts. And the full list is listed in the comments under the same person. funny you wrote a response just before I edited it and made...slight adjustments. you're a quick one lol

Yeah I mean that rather than say multiple books in a series compiled into one archive file (and that archive being bundled into a larger archive of other books/series), each book in the series is extracted as its own .txt. Hypothetically speaking.
