Here are the Google Analytics which should be more accurate:

The server's Awstats should be even more accurate as it can count the server hits. Awstats agrees with Google Analytics' country list, only Australia shifts under France (but they are very close anyway).

Portugal comes at position 26 on G.A., after Vietnam, Hungary, Argentina... not that it matters as they are all under 0.5 % of total visits.

Which reminds me, when I went to Korea it seemed like people could write Chinese characters pretty well if I asked, but the writing I saw rarely used them. Does anyone have any idea about how many characters the average Korean knows? (I'm sure it varies a LOT by age)

I know almost nothing about the Korean language.

According to Wikipedia the school students in South Korea learn a total of 1800 hanja (I find it interesting that one of the listed sources for that section of the article is a book called The Writing on the Wall: How Asian Orthography Curbs Creativity), which seems to correspond to level 3 of the Korean hanja proficiency test. However, this site says that very few people pass level 1, which only has a little more than half the kanji in level 1 漢字検定, and this blog post suggests that in practice very few school students end up attaining even a basic level of hanja proficiency.

The statistics are based on IP traffic, though.

I couldn't give an estimate because there's too many variables. Not everyone uses the flashcards on this site, probably less than 50% of the users edit stories versus just viewing, etc.

Correct. I'm guessing Google Analytics, Awstats, and all the other website statistics tools use "geo location" to map IPs to cities/countries.

I'm not sure I'll keep this avatar, but I'm having a little nostalgia fit. It's from a "Leprechaun" mod that I made for Doom 2, like twelve years ago. Hence the pixellated look. That particular image is the replacement for the face that appeared in the status bar. It gets bloodier as health approaches zero Smile
