Hi everyone, Happy New Year!

I recently bought Murakami Haruki's Wild Sheep Chase in paperback, but quickly realised that it will take me hours to read in this form. It would be a lot more straightforward if I could locate an online text. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Cheers,

SSK

It's really hard to find murakami stuff, especially for free. I tried, and came back with nothing.

Thanks, Buonaparte!

I have Murakami's 'Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World' (世界の終りとハードボイルド・ワンダーランド) as an ebook in both English and Japanese. If you were to follow the clues, you'd probably find it yourself.

In general, if you want to find an ebook in Japanese, search the authors name in Japanese (which you can get from wikipedia) along with (一般小説) or (一般書籍).

Blahah,
thanks a lot.
Do you have 風の歌を聴け in .txt format, too? Would you mind giving any clues?
I have a scanned and OCRed pdf of ダンス・ダンス・ダンス, vertical text.

Hey, no I don't have 風の歌を聴け in txt, but I'm positive I saw it during my travels around teh interwebs. Do you have email? Or some way we can talk off the forum. You can use the email link under my username, perhaps we can work together to find more stuff.

Where do JP novel text come from?
Most of the time, original source was from Winny, Share then maybe Perfect Dark.
Subsequently some Chinese/Korean/Russian download it and put them on their sites.

Granted, some of them type or make their own text copy.... but,

How do you tell which is the first upload?
Check the upload dates against the other sites which also uploaded similar text.

How do you know if the JP texts are correct without errors?
That is, if you buy it and check against the actual physical book! Big Grin

Actually, I prefer to lurk than post comment, (no kidding).

Any further questions? Just PM me. Smile

Most txt novels are extracted from the mobile version produced for mobile/cell phones so should be the same as the physical copy. Can't say I've checked though.

Surely, we're not referring to aozora bunko here. Even those need proofreaders who are really volunteers doing the work.

Most of the ebooks from Kindle store are decent but some of them have errors too.

Definitely not from Aozora, the txt books I'm referring to (many of them) are as new as 2013.
