RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - rich_f - 2010-12-19 I'm looking for a good bulk RSS podcast downloader that ISN'T iTunes, that just simply downloads podcasts, puts them in specified directories, and runs on Win 7 without making a mess of things. I had been using Juice, but now it's saving all of my MP3 files with a .partial extension for no good reason. The files download just fine, and play just fine, I think the software is just kind of old and buggy. (I can't remember the last time it the devs updated it-- 3-4 years ago, maybe?) Either way, it's annoying to have to rename a large number of files, and I've never been fond of the way it handles large numbers of downloads. What I'm looking for is a nice, simple piece of software that not only handles basic RSS feeds, but will also download the password-protected feeds I subscribe to at JPod101.com. (This is the main reason I use Juice, and a major failing for a lot of RSS downloaders, sadly.) I've tried searching for RSS downloaders in the past, and a lot of what I found was either junk or abandonware. Odd. Anyway, any helpful advice is appreciated. RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - Daichi - 2010-12-20 Honestly, I use Getright (shareware) for the couple podcasts I watch/listen to. But I highly wouldn't recommend it. It's not as simple a solution as your asking for, since it's a general download accelerator. Not even sure if it can do passworded sites. I think Winamp has a built in podcast downloader, but I've never used it. But anyway, I'm curious about what other people use too. RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - Blahah - 2010-12-20 Gpodder works nicely on linux, and is available for Windows too. RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - Biene - 2010-12-23 Please excuse my ignorance, but how does this gPodder thing work? I actually wanted to download some free news-podcasts in mp3-format, but it seems that you can only listen to them online ... so no (obvious) download button. That's why I searched the forum for possible solutions, and it seems that this gPodder might be a good idea. So I'd like to give it a try... RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - thurd - 2010-12-23 I have the exact same problem. After a while I realized there are no good podcast downloaders for Windows. Every one of them is either bloated, completely unintuitive, lacks basic functionalities or just makes a huge mess when handling downloaded podcasts. I have the same problem on Android too, Google listen makes me feel not in control of my media. Its a total mess. I can't believe this situation since everyone is so 'podcast this, RSS that' these days but the software just isn't there. What is everyone using then? iTunes? RSS Podcast Downloader (Juice Replacement?) - Blahah - 2010-12-23 Yeah, there are two perfectly functional podcast aggregators for windows: iTunes, and gPodder. iTunes is a full media centre, gPodder is just for podcasts. @Beine to subscribe to a podcast you need to get the RSS feed link. Then in gPodder you go to Menu > Subscriptions > Subscribe... and paste the link. Read more detailed instructions here. @thurd it's worth remembering that podcasts are just any kind of audio/video uploaded regularly, and that they can be collected in any RSS feed reader. By far the most people use iTunes for podcasts, but you can also use a normal newsreader which supports enclosures (audio/video) like NewzCrawler or Doppler.
