buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-16 Some questions: I only know two Japanese dictionaries with audio: 1. Jim Breen's JDIC 2. 日本語発音アクセント辞典 (no definitions, pitch accent only) Are there any other dictionaries with audio? Are there any dictionaries with audio for Mandarin Chinese and Korean? buonaparte's audio and text links - Asriel - 2010-12-16 Teskal Wrote:It would be like a Englisch-Japanese-English Dictionary on the PC. I could search with the search funktion of the Explorer.:O MIND...BLOWN But no, this is an excellent resource. I'm currently using thurd's plugin, but this should probably speed things up a bit! 1. Hit 'Play' 2. No audio =there's no sound
buonaparte's audio and text links - Teskal - 2010-12-16 Which Player do you use? VLC has problems with the beginning and ending of MP3, so a very short MP3 will make no sound. buonaparte's audio and text links - nest0r - 2010-12-16 buonaparte Wrote:gdaxeman,I use winrar. You should try it! ;p And yeah originally I--I mean a friend, was going to leave files extracted and search in explorer, but meh, so many files just sitting there, and cb4960's tool is awesome! So fast. From what I hear. Edit: Same for making it all into an Anki deck (adding semicolon separators to .txt list of file names); kind of slow and bulky. Hey buonaparte, is your list identical? Because you could always share a .txt of the filenames and people could merge them. (You can generate a list and also rename from a list in Ken Rename.) I use zoom player for Anki, set that up a while ago because of the keyboard commands, pausing and all that. buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-16 http://ifile.it/fvat3zq The list of all audio files from the JDIC by Jim Breen. The names are from a file by Jim Breen, if a name was too long, it was automatically shortened from the end. They are marked TL.mp3. There are some mp3 files from other sources, too - but just a few. buonaparte's audio and text links - ahibba - 2010-12-16 For those who are interested in the English part in the files names: 1. Download buonaparte's list. 2. Use the program nestor mentioned to rename the files. buonaparte's audio and text links - cb4960 - 2010-12-16 For those interested, this is the list of words that I tried that didn't have audio as of April 9th, 2010: Download list via MediaFire. buonaparte's audio and text links - nest0r - 2010-12-16 Is there a way to keep Anki from renaming the media files? Takes forever plus it's inconvenient for searching by explorer. Edit: Oops, didn't realize Anki's up to 1.1.12 and no longer renames? buonaparte's audio and text links - gdaxeman - 2010-12-17 nest0r Wrote:Is there a way to keep Anki from renaming the media files? Takes forever plus it's inconvenient for searching by explorer.Yes, Damien removed the renaming thing in version 1.1.8, but you have to add the file from inside Anki (if you drag and drop, it renames the file with something like "pastexyz.xyz"). He's updating the development version constantly and added a lot of new functionalities, it's very nice. buonaparte's audio and text links - nest0r - 2010-12-17 BTW cb4960 I get a 'media player not found' for bassplayer and also the non-ASCII workaround doesn't seem to work for Zoom Player, says "media not loaded" (but if I switch to mplayer it works). buonaparte's audio and text links - gdaxeman - 2010-12-17 cb4960 Wrote:For those interested, this is the list of words that I tried that didn't have audio as of April 9th, 2010:From this list, there are quite a few words that already have pronunciations that can be used - the only difference is the kanji part, but the kana (what's actually pronounced) is the same. buonaparte's audio and text links - Kubelek - 2010-12-17 if the pitch is the same buonaparte's audio and text links - gdaxeman - 2010-12-17 Kubelek Wrote:if the pitch is the sameOf course – I forgot to mention that.

Did you move bassplayer.exe and bass.dll to "C:\Program Files\Anki" ? (Sorry, I have to ask) Also, I'm still using the stable branch of Anki (1.0.1). Maybe the plugin doesn't work with the development branch. buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-17 Kanji Grades 1-6 (+ some more) kanji + recorded examples Source: http://www.saiga-jp.com/kanji_dictionary.html There are 100 pages there. Zoom Player was accurately found, it just wasn't able to load the temp_media file for whatever reason. It would open when I flipped the card but didn't play. I'll eventually check it out with those command-line argument thingies you have to see if that changes it. Thanks! And thanks for writing CMP2 plugin, didn't realize that was you, but it's highly convenient.nest0r Wrote:BTW cb4960 I get a 'media player not found' for bassplayer and also the non-ASCII workaround doesn't seem to work for Zoom Player, says "media not loaded" (but if I switch to mplayer it works). This is what my Custom Media Player 2 looks like: buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-18 Parallel Chinese-English novels, line-by-line Bible, and some stuff I find useful audio not inculed (floating around the net) http://ifile.it/o28d4tc buonaparte's audio and text links - ahibba - 2010-12-18 @buonaparte: you once told me that you have Assimil "Japanese with ease" in WORD. I have this course in PDF (the English version and the French one too), but I can't search because they are scanned. Do you have any idea how to convert them into a searchable format? If you need the PDFs, I'll send them. buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-18 ahibba, OCR your Assimil - ABBY Fine Reader is good - and then proofread them. By the way, I've no idea who you are. Why on earth do you need Assimil? Grab an audiobook with a parallel text, that's all you need. If it is too difficult (I don't really see why it should be), JapanesePod is much better. There are many free resources much better than Assiml. buonaparte's audio and text links - ahibba - 2010-12-18 buonaparte Wrote:OCR your Assimil - ABBY Fine Reader is good - and then proofread themIs ABBY better than ReadIRIS? buonaparte Wrote:By the way, I've no idea who you are.tegoku, do you still use pochta.ru free e-mail? buonaparte Wrote:Why on earth do you need Assimil? Not for me, but for a Russian friend who wants to learn Japanese. Assimil is very good for beginners and even the intermediate level. It's better than most English-based courses (Teach Yourself, Pimsleur, Hugo, etc.), and in some aspects it is better than Linguaphone. buonaparte Wrote:Grab an audiobook with a parallel text, that's all you need. How can a novice read a real book in Japanese, even if it has a translation? Yes, JPod is very good, but it is not as systematic as Assimil. You can use it as a supplement not as the main course. buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-18 ahibba Wrote:No idea. I use Fine Reader to OCR Japanese texts. Grab real Japanese right from the start and you'll see it IS possible. You said before that one needs a little study of basic grammar and language structure before starting L-R, especially for languages distant from mother tongue. For Japanese, one also needs a good knowledge of kanji, 1500 at least. So you cannot start reading real Japanese from the beginning unless you finish something like Heisig and study a grammar guide like Tae Kim. buonaparte's audio and text links - buonaparte - 2010-12-18 ahibba, learn any way YOU want, and share any many resources as possible.
