Danaduck recently posted a few lists:
* JLPT levels N5 to N1. data
* Kanji Odyssey Levels 1 to 4 (aka "ko2001").
* RTK Lite (JLPT2 + RTK I primitives) (1114 kanji) data
* "Les Kanjis dans la tête" (French RTK by Yves Maniette, 2064 kanji) data
* RTK Omnibus (does anyone even use that?) data
Are there more common sets one may want to study?
Please help me out correcting the data, and collecting other sets that may have been posted here before.
Also I don't own Kanji Odyssey. Can you tell me whether the kanji in those other methods are indexed by the exact position in the sequence? By that I mean are these indexes actually used in the book, or are the kanji just introduced in bunches?

It seems kanji are indexed in the position of the sequence, classed in three big groups (level 1-level 2-level 3), in small packets of five kanji
Personally, I follow "les kanji dans la tête", and i would be interested maybe for RTK omnibus, but I'm too lazy for the moment to add the ones I've got to add.

People also study by grade levels 1-8. (漢検)

@gyuujuice: thanks, those are the school levels right? Do you mean grades 1-6 plus 8/9 as in this post ?

For the class I teach at Yokosuka Naval Base I'm using what I term "RTK Ultralite" which is just 2k1KO Book 1 in RTK order. I don't add extra kanji not in the list that are used as primitives to simplify matters. In those cases, I just teach those kanji as just primitives.
It's also what I recommend for beginners so they can get to 500 or so kanji which is the point burn-out starts to happen for a few posters.
