EPWING dictionary question - mpacheco - 2010-10-29 Ok so I got my hands on a copy of Kojien 5th edition along with kenkyusha 5th, eijiro 95, and a few others.. supposedly in "epwing" format. I don't know anything about this format but I managed to get most of them going in kotonoko. http://www.afternooncafe.jp/kotonoko/ However, kojien 5th and eijiro 95 aren't working in kotonoko. The file structure of the directories for kojien is different, and many of the files have a .dic extension. The eijiro dictionary is just a simple eijiro95.dic file... How can I read these? Seems like an ocean of ambiguity on the various webpages I've searched, and a simple google search "epwing .dic file" doesn't return anything useful (that I've found)... I've also tried installing edict, kanjidict, and enamdict for kotonoko but I can't seem to make these things work. http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdicinf.html#dicfil_tag Any epwing gurus out there that can shed a little light? I'd like to get my kojien 5th running in kotoneko, as well as edict, enamdict, and kanjidict.. EPWING dictionary question - mistamark - 2010-10-29 I'm not sure about kotonoko, but I've never had any problems with EBWin. get it from here: http://www31.ocn.ne.jp/~h_ishida/EBPocket.html#download_win .... ahh, maybe disregard that if you're on MacOS! unless you've got an iPhone and then you can run EBPocket on the iphone. Also, .dic files aren't in epwing format, so they wont be readable. You can get the epwing formatted versions from here http://www.hloeffler.info/epwing/ EPWING dictionary question - mpacheco - 2010-10-29 mistamark Wrote:I'm not sure about kotonoko, but I've never had any problems with EBWin.Yeah, mac user here. On my iPod I have iDic which is essentially the same as EBPocket, but its functionality is the same as Kotonoko - it doesn't read the Kojien files I have. mistamark Wrote:Also, .dic files aren't in epwing format, so they wont be readable. You can get the epwing formatted versions from here http://www.hloeffler.info/epwing/Thanks for that. But what about the Kojien files? Is there a way to convert whatever format they are in now into epwing format? How can I even know what format they're in now? EPWING dictionary question - wahnfrieden - 2010-10-29 I think .DIC is PDIC format. So look for a PDIC to EPWING converter - it exists somewhere. EPWING dictionary question - aldebrn - 2014-08-26 I am going to feel really dumb when I submit this: What is EPWING? EPWING dictionary question - Bokusenou - 2014-08-26 EPWING files are dictionary files which can be used with any device as long as it has EPWING viewer software for it. They are useful in part because EPWING software can search many dictionaries at once. http://rtkwiki.koohii.com/wiki/EPWING_software |
