I'm glad I'm not alone to be annoyed by this trend. I tend to stay out of all these "social" sites anyway, but I can't avoid the "gamification" of StackOverflow, which I find irritating (ymmv).

I'm not a fan of this trend either so hopefully it will die out. It's nice to see such a thought provoking presentation on this issue.

I like the idea of learning through games but not making shallow silly games aimed to make humans into better customers/widgets.
