Memory Technique Books - gabrielbegin - 2010-10-19 Hello Everyone, relatively new RTKer here and avid forum lurker. I was reading through this old thread and I came upon the suggestion to read a book on memory techniques before doing Heisig. While it is already too late to do that, I would be very interested in getting a memory book to peruse while I continue to work through heisig and for future use. Can anyone make some suggestions? I live in Japan, so books available through amazon.jp would be awesome. I am about 700 frames in, and I have found lately that my ability to create vivid visual images for a Kanji has greatly improved... Memory Technique Books - Katsuo - 2010-10-20 Checking the linked thread, the person giving that advice seems to be me. I stand by it; in fact the memory techniques have come in handy for all sorts of other things too. I was on about frame 700 of RTK as well when I happened to come across a memory book by Jonathan Hancock in a used book store. Applying the methods therein helped me to make images more quickly and effectively. Summary of basic techniques (use one or more of them): • Include yourself • Unusual things are more memorable • Involve your senses (sight, smell, touch, etc) • Involve emotions (surprise, horror, etc) • Fit things into patterns & sequences (The book I bought, "Jonathan Hancock's Mindpower System" is out of print.) Edit: Spelling. |
