What kanji do you think looks the coolest?
My vote is for 淵

Even though it's listed as being old, it was used in a
recent email by a japanese friend of mine.

Not bad. Smile
My favorite is 陰. I think the primitives fit together quite artfully.

女 - So simple and elegant, a pleasure to write
興 - Very cool

癌

no idea why it's a favourite but something about it strikes me as interesting. Cancer is the sickness product of the mountain?

Coolest looking Kanji - julianjalapeno - 2010-10-14

凸凹 make a good pair.

If Beavis and Butthead were kanji, they would make jokes about this pair.

The element under the sickness has a meaning of rocks (as well as the reading ガン), so it's cancer (or tumors) that are like rocks.

Where? 淵 is not a particularly rare word.

I love 冬 for some reason.

Coolest looking Kanji - Rina - 2010-10-14

I love to write 愛, it's such a beautiful kanji. The mandarin chinese one is not that beautiful, at least writen by hand :p 爱

I also really like this one 興

波, when you write it in cursive, is beautiful. (It looks a lot like は!) Wink

Indeed.

I also like the shape of this one 罰, don't know why exactly...Wink

Then again, there are so many kanji I like... No one suggested 鬱 yet? xD

Edit: damn, my kanji are negative. Let's counter the effect: 楽 恋 青空 鳥

I think my favorite is 麗, I think the top part looks especially cool Big Grin
I also like 茶, I think it's the symmetry or something!

There is a lot of 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] that looks pretty cool. Just need to find some

聴=聽
[sorry if the font is so small, just increase the size if possible]

Saw 亞 a long time ago the first time I played Fatal Frame 4. Don't really know what it means but I saw it show up (at least I think I did; was long time ago) when checking items in a nurse's office or something. Prolly has no relation to any of it but I automatically think of the ghost of a nurse when I see it since the nurse is a ghost in the game!

Kinda reminds me of the well-known symbol of a hospital or health facility in many places around the globe.

I like my avatar. It is one of the few made in japan kanjis. It always throws of japanese people as well.

These are used all the time in the gay community. I'm sure you can guess why.

I'm partial to 降

Am I the only person who thinks this kanji resembles a girl using two fingers to spread open a certain part of her body. I can't get the image out of my mind now.

I like 荒 because it can be easily converted into a funny picture of a face. The 'flowers' part is the eyes. 亡 is the nose and an open mouth. The three legs at the bottom is a beard.

Coolest looking Kanji - Aijin - 2010-10-14

朧 is a beautiful character Smile

Coolest looking Kanji - vileru - 2010-10-15

仁 I like how the radicals relate to each other. Such a simple idea, but somehow beautiful in its simplicity.

What has been seen can never be unseen. Thanks a lot.

窓 also makes for a good face, I think.

I've always seen faces in 習 and 答

互 I like a lot.

This seems somewhat relevant to the way this discussion has gone

Now, please. Never bring this up again. 興 is nothing but 興 except when it's おこし. Tasty.
