Study that shows passive practice is beneficial. - theBryan - 2010-09-28 There's an interesting writeup on Wired about a study that seems to show that by passive listening to a related material in conjunction with determined practice is more effective than just practice alone. http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2010/09/how-much-should-we-practice/ In the study the participants did a auditory discrimination task--so I would think that language learning would be very similar. It does seem to lend credence to the usefulness of passive exposure to a target language.
