Problem with 圥 rice seedling - cjane - 2010-09-21 Anyone else having a problem with the 圥 - rice seedling primitive? It's too close to 先 - before for my liking, and I can't find a hook that connects the shape to rice seedlings, it's nothing like 米 - rice, 氺 - rice grains or 稲 - rice plant (this one is also a problem)!! CJ Problem with 圥 rice seedling - Nukemarine - 2010-09-21 Frodo Baggins. The dirt reminds me of those cool homes, and the legs just remind me of him. Also I had little problem putting Lord of the Rings scenes in the other kanji with that primitive. Problem with 圥 rice seedling - cjane - 2010-09-21 I have a Lord of the Rings story for 環 - ring, I could try Bilbo Baggins and make up a Hobbit story (home in the soil and got hobbit feet on the ends of his legs)! CJ Problem with 圥 rice seedling - Katsuo - 2010-09-21 The rice seedlings have little roots on them that happen to look like human legs. When planting, it's important to push these down so they go beneath the soil. Problem with 圥 rice seedling - EratiK - 2010-09-21 You can use mushroom; but if you've seen Spirited Away or Totoro, I'd recommend to use ススワタリ (since they're dirt with little legs)(dust bunnies/soot sprites). It's not great, but it works fine for heat (since they carry the coal) and mausoleum. Problem with 圥 rice seedling - TokyoXtreme - 2010-09-27 I just use "mushroom" instead for that one, considering all the connotations with Super Mario Bros. that it offers. I don't use "rice grains" either, since rice grains are what I think about anytime I think of "rice" anyway, so it seems illogical to have two kanji with nearly identical meanings. For "rice grains" I use "45 rpm record adapter", since that it's what it almost looks like. I got the idea for the latter from the story I wrote for "request", and held onto it from there. I think "shuriken" is another good one to use for "rice grains". A rice seedling with the "land" primitive underneath, I use "(the game of) Super Mario Bros.), and for the rice seedling with the walking legs underneath it, I use "little goomba" / "kuribou". A walking mushroom, which makes a lot of sense. Substituting more personal primitives for Heisig's original suggestions has really freed up my personal stories, and boosted my interest level and recall. I highly recommend substituting personal primitives anytime the suggested one feels awkward. Problem with 圥 rice seedling - NeoGlitch - 2010-10-19 Greetings. For 圥 I decided to use the primitive by crayonmaster: Quicksand. It is really easy to remember (human legs UNDER-ground), and fits pretty nicely when it has "ground" under it, thus becoming "quicksand grounds". Thanks to that cool combination I was able to make my story for frame 1515 (forces) n.n Also, happy first post to me!! =D Problem with 圥 rice seedling - EratiK - 2010-10-19 Welcome to the forum!
