Would i be fine... - soliday - 2010-07-19 I was home schooled for most of high school, and got into a college afterwards. Just last year i finished my BA in computer graphic design and i may or may not continue for a 4th year. Would having been home schooled hinder any oppurtunities in Japan? Either getting to or finding jobs in Japan? Any advice appreciated. Would i be fine... - Womacks23 - 2010-07-19 This is an interesting question. On Japanese resumes most people list their 学歴 starting at elementary school and move forward from there. No joke. At the minimum you should start at High School. Remember Japan has competition based education and the high school you enter reflects on your own abilities..... On the other hand, you are a foreigner and the Japanese educational system doesn't apply to you. You should just list your university since potential employees will have no concept of public education in your country. That's my opinion. That is a big no-no in Japan. Not to mention it's actually illegal. Would i be fine... - Yonosa - 2010-07-19 No actually, I looked this info up and also asked on debito.org about it, Home schooling is legal you just have to go through the proper channels. It is legal for both japanese and NJ of course. If it was illegal then my god, shall the state just reach down and tell me what to eat and how to dress. They certainly would never succeed at telling me how to raise any future children I may or may not have. Would i be fine... - Womacks23 - 2010-07-19 Home schooling is illegal in my area of Japan. Up until high school where school isn't mandatory anymore. It depends on the school board in your area I think. Though there is a big loophole where you can enroll a kid in school and they never show up. Would i be fine... - Asriel - 2010-07-19 soliday -- yep. unless you plan on teaching english, finding a job will be kind of tough. especially one that's willing to sponsor your visa Would i be fine... - soliday - 2010-07-19 Awesome, It's been my dream to live in Japan since I was 16 (22 now) and I'm determined to make it work. I'll try my best for a Job in my interests, but I'm definitely not opposed to teaching English, thanks for the help guys! |
