7. Type "mono" (without quotes) in the terminal, followed by a space, and then drag the subs2srs.exe file onto the terminal so that it automatically finds its location. Press enter.

8. Use Subs2SRS. Yay.

but it's not working for me either.

I think I'm broken. :\

These instructions worked for me. Hopefully this thread helps someone else down the road who runs into whatever problem I managed to run into with the ffmpeg thing.

I have no clue what was wrong, but it seems it worked.

Unfortunately, I'll only be in Tokyo for roughly 6 hours next week, and then it's back to the States...Arrive at 11 am, and my flight back home is at 5 pm.

But, if you make it to Wisconsin some time, I might take you up on the offer Smile

Just as I thought I was on the home stretch...

This problem is actually subtitle related though, so it fits the thread.

I present to you this screenshot of a sample jpn sub:

I am finding images like this (where the "Japanese subs" should normally be) in my Anki deck every so often mixed in-between cards that have been processed perfectly. I'm also finding many black images where the Japanese subs should be. Most of the audio is good (with a few exceptions) and English subbing is good (with a few exceptions), just the images for jap subs are a bit off sometimes.

I've tried the option "Use timing from" subs1 and subs2 (target and native language), but still get the same weirdness either way. I'm on a mac so I don't have a preview option, which means I can't tweak until it's right without processing the whole episode.

Ideas? Seems like this might be something I just have to live with, but then again it doesn't hurt to ask.

This is one of the reasons that pushed me to dual boot my machine with Windows 7. I tried a whole bunch of different things, but I got the same problem as you with the Japanese subtitles.

I'm sorry that I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it now -- I've been using it successfully in Windows 7 since like April or May.

Well, still a pretty epic tool, despite the problems. Fingers crossed for a fix sometime in the future, I suppose.

VMWare and an old windows 7 prerel image to the rescue.

For any potential mac users of subs2srs - the windows version is FAR AND AWAY better than the mac port. Setup and execution is cake, and the resulting deck is processed far, far better than via the mac port.
