Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - aquafina - 2010-07-10 I'm a big fan of multi tasking. So when I go out jogging, I load up anki on my ipod and blast through my reviews. It makes them much more bearable since I'm not just sitting in front of the computer and it makes the run much more enjoyable since im concentrating less on my lungs exploding out of my chest... Recently, I saw an app in the app store called push up dojo. Its kind of dumb, kind of awesome app in which you have to do a push up and break a virtual brick with your nose by tapping the iphon/touch with it on your way down. So this got me thinking, why not just load anki and tap the answer button on the way down from a push up or similar exercise. Yeah, kind of stupid idea but I'm game for anything that makes studying more exciting. Maybe ill try it. Let everyone know how it works out... Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - LegionOfDeicide - 2010-07-10 Hahaha! I think that is an interesting idea! I have an Army PT test coming up real soon. I think that would be a great way to get in shape and learn Japanese at the same time. I like that push up idea. It does sound kind of dumb but if it means getting stronger physically while getting stronger at Japanese, well, I can't complain about that. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - vileru - 2010-07-10 Do you jog at a leisurely pace? I don't see how it can be practical to jog at a speed greater than 6 mph and do reviews on Anki simultaneously. I have trouble selecting a song while jogging. If you have some secret technique that I've been missing out on, then I'd love to hear it! Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - Nukemarine - 2010-07-11 My opinion for improving push-ups on military fitness tests is to do the tabata protocol once a week leading up to the PRT. That's six rounds of 20 seconds of max number of push-ups (or sit-ups or squats or sprinting) followed by exactly 10 seconds of rest. Add up reps for all six rounds. That's two minutes total of exercise spread out over 3 minutes, but it totally destroys you. Got great results for my guys when I trained them with that at the end of the normal PT event. As for studying while exercising, don't think it's compatible with the way I work out. Hard to do reps when you got 200 pounds held over your head. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - Sebastian - 2010-07-11 If you use an external numerical keyboard as a sort of "remote control", you can do your reviews while doing any exercise that doesn't require you to use your hands, like sit-ups or using an exercise machine. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - smartazjb0y - 2010-07-11 I have twig arms and I really need to start exercising, and I would love to do this, but no iPhone =/ Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - shadysaint - 2010-07-11 I listen to podcasts and audio I've ripped from dramas when I run. I don't have a fancy ipod, but even if I did I don't think I could hit the right buttons while jogging. Something to keep in mind for the winter when I change to stationary bike at the gym. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - Proxx - 2010-07-11 I always do one-handed handstand push-ups on my desk while doing Anki reviews. Its definately slower to do the reviews while running but since i run for about an hour or two, even if i do the cards slowly I can get through a crap load of them in that time. This is only kanji review cards however... I tried to do sentence cards and couldn't read the text while jogging. Audio cards would be easier I guess but i like to listen to music at the same. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - oregum - 2010-07-11 Mounting my laptop to an exercise bike seems like a great way to bust my laptop when my knee sends the thing flying over the handlebar. Now, I'm okay with busting up my face, but hurting my expensive gadget toy at the same time is a no-go. If you worry about getting in bad shape because of spending too much time sitting in front of your computer, try using the computer while standing. Sitting a couple of hours less each day can't be bad for your health. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - Raschaverak - 2010-07-11 Bah. Go work at a costruction site, while doing Anki reps in your breaks. That way you'll have a six pack abbs in no time, learn japanese, and earn money! Now that's multitasking
Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - anon6969 - 2010-07-12 Sometimes I do dumnbells with one arm while answering Anki questions with the other. Anki + Japanese = 6 pack abbs - KirbyHead - 2010-07-12 Anki + exercise sounds awesome, in my opinion. When school starts back up I think I'll take my iTouch to the gym and do Anki reviews while on the treadmill/elliptical. Much more productive than just listening to music, I suppose, which is what I did whenever I went to the gym last year. (I haven't done many push-ups since my marching band days back in high school... they still haunt me to this day.) Losing weight and learning Japanese... sounds great, just need to figure out where to stick gym time in my already hectic schedule. Actually, I suppose now is as good a time as any to draft up a work schedule for next semester. I need to make a more concerted effort to get organized with my life, anyway.
