Power of Including Real Persons into Stories - jokoto - 2007-06-14
After completing around 300 Kanjis I have to say that there is much power in replacing Kanji Primitives with Real Persons having similar attributes like the Kanjis.
Do you feel the same? I started doing it after reading a post. There was a post here saying to replace Primitive "hand" with "Shrek".
Stories with persons you know - either in real person or movie stars - are much more easier to create and the real person of this stories are unforgettable.

yeap. i would totally agree. The person character or にんべん as it is known, is always a friend of mine. all of the Kanji with him in are about his life in and outside of "World of Warcraft" (which used to keep me away from studying)

Heisig broke my video game addiction. I haven't thought about that till now.

I was astounded by Heisig's simple but powerful method for remembering 人 in all its cameo appearances. When my friend was working through RTK I kept asking him, "Did you get to 951 yet? Didja, didja?"

It's a useful technique if you have a hard time visualizing the primitives that Heisig suggests. But with a little imagination, it's possible to come up with clear and simple images that don't involve famous figures.
For instance, I prefer to stick with the actual image of fingers instead of Shrek/Fingers the Thief, or an actual Greek column instead of The Flash, or speech bubbles instead of Socrates. But then again I use Bender for cadet, Arnold Schwarzenegger for muscle (sometimes), and Spiderman for thread---although there I do try to focus on the thread.
