Hello everybody, I have a question, is it possible to retain all Kanji learned the RTK-way after finishing it by SRS reviews ONLY?
So there will be no other exposure to the language, I want to retain RTK for about 2 years, after that I'll return to Japanese.
There's always time in the day, but I can't spare it for Japanese, so it's RTK or nothing.

If you're using an SRS, then you won't forget them. You'll probably reach an asymptote after a certain point (forgetting and having reviews spread out so due cards per day don't change much).
I'm guessing you've finished RtK already, but are too busy to learn Japanese? If you haven't started RtK yet, I'm not sure of your motives.

I'd put it on the back burner (i.e. stop reviewing), then before you dive back into Japanese go through RtK again. You'll have learned them once so you'll be able to blaze through them in 1-2 months (or faster).
That's probably what I'd do...

I think you should keep at it; just to also keep your enthusiasm for Japanese and to know that once you can start learning it again, you don't have to spend a few months relearning all the kanji and can just dive right into 'real' Japanese. After a while your review count will go down (especially if you use the Easy button a lot) and you might have time to spend 30 minutes a day on something other than the reviews; like Pimsleur (lessons are 30 minutes each) or more Tae Kim.

I finished RTK1 in May 2009, but had to drop it for a whole year because of my schedule. But i picked it up again a few weeks ago, and it only took 3 weeks to put all the kanji back in rotation! The stories came right back that I'd written down, and now i'm down to reviewing 100/day,and that number is rapidly shrinking.
I'm not letting the reviews drop this time, though. @_@ That's the trick, right there!

If you've already finished RTK then learn some vocabulary. It will help keep your kanji knowledge and save a lot of time when you will return to learning the language. You can add them really slowly but after a year you'll still have a lot of work done already.
