One difference between v1.6 and v1.7 is that v1.7 uses a newer version of eplkup (it's the same version that Rikaisama uses to perform EPWING related tasks). Perhaps this newer version isn't working on your computer for some reason. As a workaround, one thing you can try is to delete the Utils\eplkup folder from v1.7 and replace it with the Utils\eplkup folder from v1.6.
The workaround you suggested works perfectly! Big Grin Thank you again cb!!

First of all, what an amazing piece of software! Saves me a ton of time. I have two requests/comments:

1. Is it possible to get added support for A Dictionary of Buddhist Terms (or something like that) (http://maximilk.web.fc2.com/index_ml.html#cebd).

2. When I have a list of words I am trying to create an import file from, sometimes it stops generating the import file before all the words are done. The number of words that are completed seems totally random, and different every time with the exact same lists and settings. Both the list of words and import file are synced to Dropbox, so I thought I'd try to pause syncing. All the words got in to the import file. I've only tried it once, so maybe the success was random. It's only a very minor nuisance, but would it be possible to fix this so that sync doesn't need to be paused every time I try to generate an import file?

Is there a way to extract all the sentences and translations from the EPWING dictionaries? (Plus the headwords they came from, for reference.) Reason: I thought about the possibility of using them to create a massive deck with one sentence per card, maybe using MorphMan to reorder them or something, for when I finish Core 10k a few months from now. I would also be interested in using the Text Analysis Tool on the content to gather some information about them as a whole, such as how many different words and kanji they use.

That would actually be pretty useful. A cheap way to do it now would be to download the epwing anki deck (I think someone made a deck with every entry, not sure how its formatted but if it is like 見つける*見付ける etc. you can use excel to delete alternate headwords.

Then you can copy the headword column into a text file and just run that through the dictionary you want to extract definitions/whatever from. They have different standards for headwords so in the first go you might get some that say no entry was find that would have otherwise gone through if the kanji had been different 呑み込む・飲み込む vs. のみ込む and so on.

I have something close to that for the Kenkyusha. 411397 lines, 27.2 MB, every line that contains a period. Notably missing the headwords.

I have a feature suggestion, or if someone knows how to do this, I'd love to know how: what I want is a way to set disambiguation so it would generate separate entries for each numbered definition E2A finds in the first dictionary it gets a hit in. (So if it was EDICT, it would just use EDICT's definition, but if it was Kenkyusha, it would go down each numbered definition in the Kenkyusha entry.)

So for example;

Foo: bar, barrr, barrrx

Would yield only 1 entry, but:

Foo: 1. bar
2. Barrr
3. barrrx

Would yield 3 entries, with the definition field set separately (and the example sentence set separately as well). If there's no example sentence, the definition stays, but the ExSentence field is blank, or flagged somehow.

That might be faster than disambiguating a bunch of entries, or at least it would be a way to make sure you can cover the definitions of some of the more definition-heavy verbs.

It would also be nice if it would include the information that EDICT gives about kanji usage for kunyomi, aka when to use 診る vs 観る vs 見る etc.. For some reason its left out. If anyone else wanted a way around that you can also use the sentence glosser addon, and run it on the headword field to generate a gloss field, then go through all the entries manually that include this phrase "(usu.", which prefaces things like "(usu. 観る) [followed by definition specific to this kanji]" and then manually create new entries.

You can also do this to generate glosses for the Japanese definitions/example sentences if you don't want to jump around to understand them.

Here's the addon: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2984099183

RE: Epwing2Anki - Tool For Automatically Generating Anki Vocabulary Cards - Roketzu - 2016-06-05

I have a request for a feature that Epwing2Anki seems best suited to achieving. I'm wondering that since Epwing dictionaries tend to always list the antonyms for words with ⇔, would it be possible to feed Epwing2Anki a list of words in 1 column and have it detect anything that comes after ⇔ and spit those out into column 2?

For example you give it a .txt document with:

温かい
養父
重視
拡大

it performs a search and extracts anything after ⇔ and then gives you back a 2 column result

温かい   冷たい
養父   実父
重視   軽視
拡大   縮小

and just leaving a blank space when there is no ⇔ in the search result.

Is this just a crazy limited use case scenario that only the likes of my brain would love to see? I wonder if many would find such a feature to be useful or not. Anyway I just wanted to put the feature suggestion out there as I've been thinking about it for a while.

Look what I did! This is the result of just feeding it a .txt file with 4 words. Imagine what it could do with 40000! Probably ignore most of them as they won't have an antonym, but still...

Well, I edited away some of those pesky definitions to make room for my precious antonyms so you can see it does the business. I think it could automagically be made to do away with the readings and definitions and only leave the antonyms (maybe through the fine tune options?). I'm not sure if it's possible to not have it change an input of 温かい to 暖かい・温かい. I wasn't anticipating that, as it'd make it more difficult to then update an existing Anki note set via importing unless you only ever made notes with E2A.

I also just noticed cb hasn't been on in a while. I hope everything's OK!
