This is just a plug for a simple to use and free program that will quickly strip the audio from most video files and save it as an mp3, ac3 or wav file. The app can be downloaded here: http://www.aoamedia.com/audioextractor.htm

I use it to make mp3s of dorama episodes that I then listen to at my mind-numbing job using an invisible earphone. Have fun!

Don't forget to strip the audio of the subtitle file (or convert to a .lrc format) and put in the lyric portion of the file.

Still haven't found an app that'll accept personal lrc files yet. Obviously most (ok all) lyric databases are not going to have "lyrics" to episode one of Around 40.

I'm not sure what you mean by "accept personal lrc files". I know that the lyric display program I use has a lyric editor (read: lrc editor) that lets you edit, download or create your own file then save it in the mp3. As an added bonus, it does most of the work for you when it comes to actually getting the lyrics, grabbing them from the major lyric sites in Japan.

Is that what you are looking for?

EDIT: I just confirmed that it works with videos in iTunes as well.

Probably,

This is an app that works with the iTouch? The ones I tried before were decent but I couldn't make my own lyrics.

Another option is to listen to podcasts of japanese radio dramas.
There are some on itunes.

Of course, you wouldn't have subtitle files.

I remember someone posted podcast stuff, in the podcast thread. Just download them to your computer,mp3-format and listen away. Background noise i guess.

No. Just a simple Japanese lyric program that allows you to make your own lrc files or edit existing ones. You do the timing on the fly then save it in the mp3. I'll test one that I made on my iphone and report back.

Well the app I just tried on my phone (LrcPod), which I can't recommend, doesn't display my custom one but I located a .db file it creates on the phone and was able to access it using an sqlite browser. It looks like I can just simply add entries into the database using the browser and good ol' copy-and-paste. Is your iPod Touch jailbroken? If so, I'll explain the procedure.

Yeah, it's jailbroken. Not much experience using sqlite beyond basic call procedures.
