It's really hard for me to read kanji sometimes at the default text size, because the strokes can all just seem to run together. I know I can manually change the size of text and all that, but I was wondering if there is any way to make japanese text (as opposed to all text) in a larger font size? Maybe through some extension or greasemonkey script?

I don't know about that, but at least for any regularly visited sites, you can use the Firefox addon "No Squint". It remembers the text magnification you set for each site.

Maybe get a bigger monitor.
The items on the screen will appear larger at the same resolution.

Or you could trade in your eyes for a pair with better magnification, perhaps a hawk's eyes. Or you could upgrade your visual cortex to prevent the strokes blurring together.

Not that this is a long term solution, but ctrl + mouse scroll wheel is probably the fastest and easiest way to do so.

I use all of the recommendations given here to nice effect, except for the hawk eyes, which just aren't worth it.

View -> Zoom -> Enlarge

I'm not sure about the wording, I have my Firefox in Japanese.

The keyboard shortcut on Mac is cmd and +
So on Windows, it's probably Ctrl and +

To go the other way around, swap + for -

Yes, it changes all text instead of just Japanese text, but it's a really simple keyboard shortcut, so that's what I would use
