Japanese culture historically has its roots in early China. Many customs and practices were introduced from the Chinese, such as wet-rice farming, the writing system, and the three classical Japanese arts of refinement (kadō, or ikebana for flower arrangement, kōdō for incense, and chadō for tea and the tea ceremony).
Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism from China have also influenced Japanese beliefs and customs.
But what did the Chinese learn from the Japanese?
For example, the Chinese knew the hand-held fans as early as 200 BC, but the folding fan was invented in Japan in the 8th century and taken to China in the 9th century.
Were there other things which were known first in Japan then in China?

There's also some Japanese 国字 in Chinese I think.
