人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-15 Hey guys just to let you know, I'm working on a deck to include a lot of Japanese names for those having trouble mastering them. I was thinking even though I got passed the basic common names. I still feel like learning more. So in repose to this, I'll be making a deck(working on it now actually, I'm almost to 1000 names). Where am I getting the names from? 日本の男優一覧,日本の女優一覧 and 日本の声優一覧. http://ja.wikipedia.org/ (Enter those into the search, it's basically a list of male names, females names and the last is actor names). I'm pretty confident if someone studies common names+this+learn from a JP name dictionary along with this. Your on your way to mastering how to read names well(or at least have strong knowledge of them+different readings). When will I have this done? Give me a month and I should have this all done, or maybe faster depending on how much I add per day. (I'm checking all the readings based on what's on wiki, so I'm being careful) 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - PATRICKRL - 2011-02-16 That's a good idea. Thanks for doing this! 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Rina - 2011-02-16 さすが、TA12121! 助かる! 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Jarvik7 - 2011-02-16 There is so much variety and randomness in male given names that I don't think there is really any point in studying them. Surnames and female names are doable though. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-16 Jarvik7 Wrote:There is so much variety and randomness in male given names that I don't think there is really any point in studying them. I doubt I'll ever study anymore.Obviously as they appear after in the random I'll add them slowly to my srs. But definitely I agree with the surnames. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - nadiatims - 2011-02-16 There seem to be a few patterns for male first names: 1. Using Onyomi readings, all the shouhei, yuudai, junpei, Kenta etc. Very easy to read. 2. Names based on verbs, Shigeru, Manabi, Hikaru etc. Not too bad. 3. Archaic (?) Japanese names, Toshinori, Masanori etc. Parent's seemingly just choose a name and an arbitrary pair of random characters they think are cool with no relation to how they are normally read. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-16 nadiatims Wrote:There seem to be a few patterns for male first names:when I was adding a lot of the names. There where some that had basically the same reading over and over again with slight differences. While some where pretty different. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-16 CarolinaCG Wrote:さすが、TA12121!When I'm done, I expect to have probably 3000-4000+. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-16 PATRICKRL Wrote:That's a good idea. Thanks for doing this!No problem, I think it's time I started giving back to anki/the forum. I will eventually donate to anki. Because without this software, man would I have failed in learning Japanese so fast/so well. Thanks to my success so far with jp, I will apply it to my school studies and be able to get some high marks. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Rina - 2011-02-16 A few months ago I actually though of doing something similar, but never got to do it. Thank you so much ta! 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-16 CarolinaCG Wrote:A few months ago I actually though of doing something similar, but never got to do it.yea. I'm pretty confident if one where to combine this with the common names for males/females+500 common surnames+this deck I'm making+using a JP name dictionary. Names will be no problem(at least 95% of the time) 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-19 The building of the deck is going well. I'm merging a lot of other names(i.e. anki shared deck). Plus some resources from the web (coscom). I'm almost at 2000, so it's going along well. I remember someone on the forum linked something like 9000+ names. I looked on my computer it seems I converted it to text format so I can import it into anki/make it a deck. I decided that I'll make two decks. One containing everything I've collected and one with all of collected+9000+ names. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - astendra - 2011-02-19 This looks awesome, ta. Thanks and good luck. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-19 astendra Wrote:This looks awesome, ta. Thanks and good luck.thanks, it will take time but it will eventually be finished. There going to be pretty huge. One will probably be 4000+. And the other will probably be 10,000+ 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Rina - 2011-02-19 Wait wait, what 2 decks are those? One for names and the other...? You rule

So it will be probably 4000+, even more. But the other deck will have that included plus 9000+ of more names. So it will be 10,000+. But the second deck is just to add more names into the mix. Although assuming there are duplicates it will probably be less. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Asriel - 2011-02-19 I think this is a pretty decent idea. I agree with male names though -> kind of wtf Perhaps you could organize them somehow, like...I'm not sure really, but by common-ness would probably be helpful. You've done that however-many common surnames, so perhaps those could be tagged? Having a deck with 10,000+ names just kind of blindly thrown in there is...kind of crazy. The 8,555 sentence deck from the grammar dictionary itself is pretty intimidating itself, and that's even organized in the order of the book (iirc). edit: or organize them by source. Like tags for wikipedia:male_names and stuff like that. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-19 Asriel Wrote:I think this is a pretty decent idea. I agree with male names though -> kind of wtftrue. At the moment all the cards are joined together (same model). But I can easily organize them into different models=different tags. That way it will make things easier. But dividing it between male/female for that 9000+ resource would take too much work. But for everything else it wouldn't be a problem. (Forgot where I got it from, but I saved it in a text file) 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-19 2561 names at the moment(deck). I'm feeling lazy. I added all the rest of the names on MS word. So basically I delete each name, every-time I add it, until I get to no more. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-27 I will upload 9000 names(tomorrow, this is not via Wikipedia where I'm getting them from where I'm collecting for my own personal vocab deck, but these are from a site.Someone listed it in this forum and I converted it to a text file. Should have it on the anki shared decks by later today, need to head to bed.) actually it's 7000+ (thanks to anki, no duplicates) 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-27 Ok it's uploaded and running. Search "Japanese names" under anki shared decks and it should be listed as the second last one. Here is the name Japanese Names 人名用漢字 P.S. someone listed family names for collected all over japan(someone listed it on this forum and I made a text file a while back). 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - Evil_Dragon - 2011-02-27 First, your effort is much appreciated! Names have always been my weak point - and I doubt this is any different for most learners. However, when I tried it out, I got this: ■橋 (the first character appears as a solid black square), which is supposed to read Takahashi Any ideas? Edit: Also, ■田 (Yoshida) 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-27 Evil_Dragon Wrote:First, your effort is much appreciated! So a lot of kanji are of the same but may have different readings. So treating them as different cards is key to learning them well (i.e. know my heart different readings for the same name). So it isn't an error or a mistake. 人名用漢字[じんめいようかんじ] Anki Deck - ta12121 - 2011-02-27 wait I think I remember why (real reason). Those names are in hiragana for the blanked out parts. I forgot where the link is I have a feeling it's right in front of me... |
