Workbook for どんな時どう使う日本語 - gyuujuice - 2010-05-15
皆さん、おはようございます！今(文法の)日本語能力試験の教科書を買っています。手伝って頂けませんか？

I made a post very similar to this but I didn't get quite the answer I was looking for.
There are so many workbooks for this series but I can't find a specific workbook for this book-- a collaboration of all the levels.
1) Do I just buy all the workbooks?
2) Maybe I don't need the workbook if I just SRS everything in the main text. What do you think?
3) Does anyone have any experience with these textbooks?
(For reference I am also buying 完全マスター文法 for both 2級and 1級, and 日本語文型辞典 (単行本))

I used it in conjunction with the Kanzen Master book, and felt that by the time I got done going through both books, I felt really comfortable with the grammar section on the test.
I didn't use the workbook (http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%81%A9%E3%82%93%E3%81%AA%E6%99%82%E3%81%A9%E3%81%86%E4%BD%BF%E3%81%86%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E8%AA%9E%E8%A1%A8%E7%8F%BE%E6%96%87%E5%9E%8B500%E7%9F%AD%E6%96%87%E5%AE%8C%E6%88%90%E7%B7%B4%E7%BF%92%E5%B8%B3%E2%80%95%E4%B8%AD%E3%83%BB%E4%B8%8A%E7%B4%9A-%E3%82%A2%E3%83%AB%E3%82%AF%E3%81%AE%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E8%AA%9E%E3%83%86%E3%82%AD%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88-%E5%8F%8B%E6%9D%BE-%E6%82%A6%E5%AD%90/dp/4872346955/ref=pd_sim_b_2) because between the exercises in the the 500 text, the Kanzen Master book and going through old test problems, I felt like I had enough practice and didn't really need the workbook.
I also have the dictionary, which you linked to in your post. But I mostly use it just for reference when I have a brain fart on some of the basic grammar rules... it's basically just a collaboration of all the grammar points in both the 300 and the 500 book in a dictionary format. So if you don't need levels 3 and 4, you can probably just get by with the main text. (Also if you're getting the 日本語文型辞典 it might be a bit redundant to get both? I don't have the 日本語文型辞典, so I can't say for sure, though).
But all in all, I think the 500 book was probably one of the best books I bought to prepare for the test. The 1kyu and 2kyu points are clearly marked, so you can just study what you need (or do everything for really good review if you have time). And I thought the explanations were a little easier to understand over Kanzen Master sometimes.
