Hopefully they will play better against Ivory Coast and bid farewell to the World Cup with style. The match against Brazil was great and got my hopes up for DPRK.

Come on its N. Korea we're talking about here, they will probably get executed for this. Not exactly funny stuff. Hopefully at least their families will be spared.

World Cup 2010 - mattimus - 2010-06-21

Does anyone have a way to watch the Japanese broadcasts of the games over the internet?

It's OK. Kim Jong-il released a statement today claiming it was due to American foreign policy Portugal escaped with the narrow victory. As has been the case for the last 20 odd years, the North Korean people accepted this obvious cause for their suffering.

Check the TV thread for some streaming links. I saw some of the North Korea on Fuji TV. I prefer watching the games in HQ, but they have constantly been showing highlights and analysis on all channels, and there are lots of features on Japan's upcoming game. 運命の一戦へ!

Good news: espn3.com has the broadcasts of the World Cup games in many different languages, including Japanese.

Bad news: your ISP has to be part of their network (I'm in San Diego on Time Warner, meaning I can't access the games, but the people across town using Cox Cable can). Check it out, many of you might be able to take advantage of this. Not me though Sad

World Cup 2010 - bodhisamaya - 2010-06-24

Holy crap!
Japan 3
Denmark 1

World Cup 2010 - ninetimes - 2010-06-24

Was a fun game to watch. The penalty kick goals were about as textbook perfect as you could ever hope to get, and the third was classy.

World Cup 2010 - Offshore - 2010-06-24

Japan's had a really good Cup so far. They've definitely deserved to make it to the round of 16; they've been very well-organized.

Very disappointing loss for Denmark. That penalty was lucky. That was an awful call, there was hardly any contact at all; certainly not enough for a penalty. Even funnier, Kawashima had an amazing save, and the Denmark player almost MISSED the rebound, lol.

World Cup 2010 - jonjimbo2000 - 2010-06-24

I should have stayed up to watch it! I watched the earlier game instead - Slovakia vs Italy. It was quite a game. Amazing to see the 2006 finalists Italy and France both knocked out in the group stage. As an Irishman I had to laugh at the French shambles.

The free kicks were great, especially Honda's.

So maybe Okada's aim of a semi-final place is not so crazy after all.

World Cup 2010 - Rina - 2010-06-25

Today Portugal and Brazil will play. I fear a lot for Portugal.

I hope the US or Japan win this cup (and Portugal, but I doubt it). If not, I hope Brazil wins.

Japan played really well yesterday. Big Grin

They have Paraguay in the last 16, so they could have done a lot worse. Few matches are easy, but I think they stand a good chance of reaching the quarters on current form. At least I'll have a team to support after England go out...

World Cup 2010 - ninetimes - 2010-06-25

England got the short end of the stick with Germany. I don't think the USA has much of a chance, but if we'd have ended up with Germany the odds of us just getting wrecked in the quarterfinals were a lot higher. We're not consistent or very technical at all.

I think there's a truth that every England supporter, even if they don't want to admit it, knows deep down. Even if we won it would only be half a World Cup if we didn't beat Germany, on top form, along the way.

Bring it on! Can't wait for Sunday.

World Cup 2010 - Katsuo - 2010-06-27

I just came across an E-J dictionary of football-related words. There's 1,600 in all; could be useful for if you're watching the World Cup in Japan. 英和サッカー用語(A~D)

Well, looking forward to the England v Germany match tonight.

4:1 (or 4:2 if you want - I thought it was very unfair, but in the end it doesn't matter with THAT result anyways)

I'm sooooooooooooooo happy (^____________^)v

World Cup 2010 - Evil_Dragon - 2010-06-27

Schland!!

World Cup 2010 - Katsuo - 2010-06-27

Linesmen obviously had better eyesight back in 1966... But overall, well played Germany.

You can never tell what would have happened had that shocking decision not been made. But you have to say England's defending (if you could even call it that) was so so so awful.

Anyway, come on Japan.

FIFA to ban big-screen replays
The whole ref problem has been fixed

The only thing that has been decided so far is that no major sports event should ever be held on the continent of Africa again. It sounds like a race of giant bee aliens have taken over planet Earth.

Too bad!! They almost did it!! :/
