Japanese TV on Internet - Bokusenou - 2011-12-15

oosuoosu Wrote:Hi all,

New to this forum but just want to put out a software I have been using to watch japanese TV. The software is called NTKTV,. Its a java software you run ... some one hack for it so you can watch at least most of the basic kanto channel. Check it out at http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_56753_840.htm . This is not live but you can download by the hour per tv station. This is useful as your not in front of your pc all the time to catch some of your fav shows. Now just waiting for hulu japan to be available on XMBC or someother program.
It looks like it could be interesting, but whenever I click on an hour to play, I just get "再生内容は存在していません" no matter which one I pick. Is it working for you?
BTW, I thought Hulu Japan only has the same shows it has in English, doesn't it?

If you install NTKTV and try shows on NHK-2 (which is the only channel listed before logging in with a valid ID), they should be available at any hour offered in the list. With a valid login, the other channels become available.

「再生内容は存在していません」 (meaning of course 'the content to play does not exist') is the error that comes up when you try to view a show more than 10 days old.

Normally, it only occurs if you leave the client running for some time and then try to view a time period that is in your list because it was available when you started the client, but has since been deleted.

Of course, if you are attempting to view shows through some illegitimate means, errors may occur that don't otherwise.

Ah, thanks! It's downloading now.

If you download the hacked one linked to by oosuoosu, it will work just like the original one, with the only channel shown as being NHK-2. However, since there are multiple files that are included, you'll actually be downloading the channel for the file you opened.

On a Mac, even if it's downloaded completely and you hit '再生' nothing will happen. That's because it's configured to open with windows media player. You can get around this by finding the file in its temp folder. Mine was in /var/folders/SE/SExi0IzsEwG9Am66aufryk+++TM/-Tmp-/BS191_20110902_1000.asf
You can find out yourself by opening it from the terminal.

java -jar <filename.jar>

And watching the output for
INFO: Save to /var/folders/SE/SExi0IzsEwG9Am66aufryk+++TM/-Tmp-/BS191_20110902_1000.asf

Although, I'm guessing that they'll catch on to what people are doing and shut it down. I've already seen that a few of them don't work, but I haven't really played around with it too much.
Edit: could be because content is 10+ days old. Like from September. Yep, yep.

Hi all,

Good to know people are trying it out. I will write the steps:

1. First go to the NTKTV site and download and install the their software.
2. Download the files from d-addicts.
3. Right now the only channels that are working are only from Kantou folder plus one channel from the Kantou folder ... cant remember which one. Just click the Jar file for the channel. Select the NHK channel and wait till the list in the middle updates with the one slot programs for that channel.
4. Click the time slot you want to watch then presto!! it should start the program in windows media player.

There are some tricks with this too. All the video files are saved in a temp folder on C: until you shut down the program. In my since my wife is always a week behind in all her shows, I download a weeks worth at a time. I open many instances of the program and download them all at once. After I am finished, I copy all the video files to a permanent folder. Then close all the programs. Here is the the temp output folder for windows 7 users(Sky is my user name):
C:\Users\Sky\AppData\Local\Temp

Yeah its too bad all the other channels stopped working. When the hack was first uploaded, all the channels in all the folders worked. But it seems like NTKTV stopped broadcasting the other channels. You were close Asriel! lol The content is 10+ days old cuz they stopped the those channels.

Another hack would be to open this sofware in virtual XP. Buy a months worth to get an ID and password. Copy instances of this virtual XP as a back up. This worked for me before the JAR hack. Not a real hack but a work around as I am not technical enough.

For HULU japan, I was hoping that the content was different so that I can use XBMC to play the content on my PC/apple TV. I see TV programs in the content but hopefully they start putting in some japanese TV programs to localize the software more. Right now I think they are blocking users outside of japan.

Do you guys know any other NEW methods of watching japanese tv similar to NTKTV that saves the programs in blocks or with PVR options? I haven't looked around for a year since using NKTTV.

Don't know if guys read japanese comic books, but if you need info on dling those just ask.

oops ... here are the links to the TV scheduling for some of the channels. There is a week view you can set and most the channels retain programing info for 1 week in the past.
