By the way, Anki's "suspend fact" feature may be useful to you in skipping Heisig kanji that you don't want to review. I use Anki for RTK.
I'm extremely unfamiliar with Anki, and flashcard programs like it, so I hope to figure out how to make my own decks and optimize my grammar, vocab and syntax/usage studies as best I can.

Where are these preinstalled sample JLPT decks you mentioned? I can't find them for some reason...
I still would really appreciate it if people with large decks for grammar, vocab, or sentences would send me theirs. I am really eager to start using this program. I tried making my own deck today, slow going, I have no where close to the amount of time necessary to make a really comprehensive and helpful deck.
Please help me out!

For example in my deck, I have a model for sentences and a model for vocabulary.
If I accidentally enter vocab using the sentence model, can I change it?

The samples are installed in c:\Program Files\Anki\samples on my system.

its seems I cant access Anki via my keitai for the last day or so. I just get the %(username) screen, despite refreshing. Online via computer works fine.
Any ideas?

I can't see any sane reason why that would be happening. It could be a bug in python. Restarting the server makes it go away (it should be fixed again now)

I'm using Anki on Ubuntu 7.10, and it works fine except for the graph utility. When I click on the グラフ button an error comes out saying "matplotlib appears to be broken".
I have tried reinstalling matplotlib (from the repository) and Anki a few times, but the problem remains. The graphs worked fine on Ubuntu 7.04, with the same matplotlib package.
It's probably a specific problem with my configuration, but I thought I'd tell you in case you already dealt with something like this before and know an easy fix for it.

atreya: it might be possible, but I lack such a device to test on. Until someone who owns such a device comes along and ports it, you'll need to use something else.
nac_est: it's not the same - ubuntu upgraded to a new version, which is broken. Search for matplotlib on the anki tracker. :-)

Let me be the 1056th person to come to this thread for help.
I've been using Anki for about a month now, and I've found it to be an excellent study aid. many thanks to resolve for all his time and effort!
However, recently I've been unable to log in (on Mac OS X). I get this message:
Anki Error
An unexpected error has occurred during execution of the main script.
EOFError:
And then the options to "open console" or "terminate".
I've tried reinstalling, but have had no luck.
does anyone have any ideas?

django: that indicates that your deck was corrupted. look in ~/.anki/backups for a backup copy of the deck, and copy it over your existing version (backing up your existing version just in case)

Fraid I don't have a backup copy of the deck, or even the .anki/backups folder. So I backed up all my decks, then deleted them and redownloaded anki, but still the same mesage.

I'm sure you have a backup directory - Anki would complain if it couldn't create it. ~/ means your home directory.
