Dragon Ball Z - Kewickviper - 2010-04-27 Just watched an episode of Dragon Ball Z without subtitles as part of my immersion. I got to the bit where the meme "Its over 9000!!" came from and nearly choked on my tea when I heard: 八千以上だ! That's 8000 not 9000 what the hell! I'm going to have to watch the rest now to see how many more power level errors they made!! Dragon Ball Z - ta12121 - 2010-04-27 八千以上だ! 八千以上?! それは何かの間違えだ! 故障だ! Dragon Ball Z - BlueFinger - 2010-04-27 In the Brazillian Portuguese dub, it's 8000 as well. Also, why Kame Sennin (or Master Kame, in Brazil) is called Master Roshi in the US? It's like saying "Master Sage", which sounds a little redundant and gives him no actual name, but two titles. I guess americans are really bad at adaptations? At least their dubs sound awful. Dragon Ball Z - kazelee - 2010-04-27 Guess they needed to give him a name that sounded "Asian" while staying within a certain syllable range that was also easy for kids to understand and catchy as well. Damn thems! Dragon Ball Z - Kewickviper - 2010-04-28 Yeah I always used to wonder why Master Roshi had KAME on his house and when I used to play the old games that were translated on the snes he was called kame. I always thought it was because to me it sounded identical to kami (the old green namek) so they gave him a different sounding name. That's just pure speculation from an 11 yr old though
