Anki review: Hard, Good, Easy - Raschaverak - 2010-04-21
I've just been thinking about it, that you still have to decide yourself wether the card you've just reviewed was
hard, good, or easy for you. For me this takes an extra time to decide because I wan't to be the most objective as I can. But sometimes I can't really decide just choose hard randomly...so the question: could it be made, that a built-in timer decides based on the time you ansver whether a card is to be considered hard / good / easy? But since there are different types of decks, some need automatically more time than others, then it would be great if Anki made a kind of report of the cards you answered corectly, and according to the time distribuiton (time taken to answer the cards), automatically sorting the cards to easy / hard / good ect.

The self-assessment process is I think important, you don't want it to be too objective, the SRS is a scaffolding for developing your metamemory skills. Or something. ;p

It's not always about time, and you should be the one to determine that.
I just keep it simple: Space Bar (good) or 1 (miss). There may be a couple of variants where I'll select "hard", but it boils down to those first two for me. I just don't use the easy button.

Stop thinking so hard about it and just press the button. If you press the wrong one, it's not a big deal. Just try to answer honestly.

Like Nukemarine, I barely ever use the Easy button.
It's basically Space or Fail. I'm starting to allow myself to use the easy button more often, because I still have a lot of reviews, particularly from RtK, that are just too easy.
"Hard" is rare, but occasional. It's more like if I see an ambiguous word, and I know it's one of two kanji, or I write it slightly incorrectly, or it's just a little bit 'hard' to remember.
Don't think too hard about it. Also: turn off the thing where it shows you how long until reviews will come again -- don't bother thinking about that factor.

Like most people I mostly use "good" or "fail".
I use "easy" only for new vocabulary/Kanji I already know perfectly.
I use "hard" either when:
- I fail the same item several times in a row
- I basically know the item but I make a little mistake. For example stroke order wrong, or didn't voice the compound right (連濁)
- When I don't know a word but I feel that is is very valuable and I want to see it again as soon as possible.
