rtk and suspendbycharacter - nest0r - 2010-04-18 Just a heads up because since my past recommendations on doing RTK (or rather, RTKO Lite) alongside KO2001/smart.fm, grammar, etc., I haven't kept up with the Kore sorting stuff, but if it helps, there's a SuspendByCharacter plugin for Anki--I know gagge_tah mentioned it, but my impression is that you have a .txt file, you enter a kanji number or something, and any cards that go beyond that number are suspended? If anyone's used it, feel free to explain how you've been doing it for others. Per the above 'recommendations' comment: "Do RTK Lite (KO2001 version) with English keywords, then as you progress, periodically check a 'mature' stack (or sort by intervals in Anki?). Select a batch of kanji from there, and find their corresponding words in the list of smart.fm/KO2001 sentences. " - I figure rather than 'finding their corresponding words' you can just use that Anki plugin to leave cards with those kanji unsuspended. If the sentence deck has a separate field for a single vocabulary word (pretty sure the Kore ones do?), then you could just focus on that word in the sentence. Anyway, the important thing is, there's a shared plugin to do that, in case you missed it. ;p Edit: And only ~30 people have DL'd Third's Anki plugin for putting JDIC audio on vocabulary cards? For shame... http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=96609#pid96609 (well, 77 DLs now) rtk and suspendbycharacter - nest0r - 2010-05-08 Don't want to create a new thread for a minor comment on an Anki plugin, but thought I'd mention that if you had problems like I did where the media would stop playing after opening a few Anki decks in one session, the Custom Media shared plugin seems to fix that. The new version, Custom Media Player 2, allows you to have a separate player for video and audio files. No idea if there's a way to add visible 'controls' to these custom players (pause, scan, etc), anyone else tried it out? Though a reminder, when playing video files in Anki with mplayer, if you hit space bar while the video is playing (and the focus is on the video window) it will pause it. I use it regularly to solid effect, though with the subs2srs options to add min/max length to cards, it's not as necessary as before. Edit: Well, I know that with zplayer, and I presume any other non-mplayer program you tell it to use, it lets you have the pause button and stuff! Edit 2: Ah ha! It works with mplayer too! I guess as long as you specify with a full path in the plugin .py then it plays it separately with its own controls. Damn, there's still the problem with auto-shutdown settings, still trying to get the After Playback setting to stick. Hmm, can't get the /play /close command line switches to work for MPC, ah well. It's a trade-off. Edit 3: Ah ha! Zoom Player (comes with CCCP) lets you auto-close after playback. Zoom it is. |
