Synonyms - Piotoro - 2010-03-10 Is there a list of keywords grouped by synonyms? Something like famous likeness & resemblance. By the way, is there a list of keywords definitions? Like this one, but filled.
Synonyms - gyuujuice - 2010-03-10 I glanced over your sheet and this is what I think: 1) Heisig uses obscure meaning to help DIFFERENTIATE kanji. I would stay away from synomyns unless they are unique. (from heisig words) 2) Kanji aren't nouns, adjectives, verbs or anything of the sort. They are parts of words. For example: You had trouble with "負", right? Well it can be a verb, "負ける' or a noun, "負け". DON'T focus on how the word in used but just the code-word. 3) Heisig's definitions are sometimes wrong! But the whole point of the words is to memorise the characters themselves so it doesn't matter too much. For example: 町 is city or town and 村 is village. Heisig's definitions are off. I would recomend rereading the preface of the book. I had to restart over again at 500 because I didn't understand the process. Just curious, how far along are you? 頑張ってください! (Good Luck!) Synonyms - Piotoro - 2010-03-11 Answering the question. I'm ashamed. I haven't gone too far. Recently I don't have too much time, besides I do it for fun. I like working on Polish keywords, it is a pleasure for me. And it's pretty effective. A had a few several months breaks. I've done about 150 kanji. A few months ago I had 84/126 score. A few days ago - 100/126. I haven't done any rewievs in the meantime. 1) I need the synonyms' list to have easier way working out the Polish keywords. I would check them to have less problems later on. 2) Kanji aren't, but keywords are and I often don't get the appropriate meaning of them, so I have problems finding translation... 3) It's curious. So seems the Japanese keywords way. To add up. I work on Polish keywords. I try to translate Heisig's keywords, but looking at real meanings of kanji and choosing carefully. Synonyms would help with this... Synonyms - gyuujuice - 2010-03-11 I see, you want to translate them... Well just write the 漢字 here whenever you want synonyms. I don't know how to access the google document and save my corrections, though I did try. Don't worry, it just takes a little bit each day. Even if you were to memorise only 5 a day you would finish in a year. 2042 characters is quite a lot. Synonyms - thurd - 2010-03-11 I used English keywords with Polish translations on kanji/keywords that posed some problems like synonyms, kanji I mixed up often, difficult keywords, etc. This way I'm "backwards compatible" and less likely to make annoying mistakes, while still mainly using a keyword rather than a story or some longer definition. I wouldn't specifically work on synonyms, just go with the flow and let your method evolve in time. Take special care with things your brain can't handle but on other stuff let it do its magic. It works for me. gyuujuice Wrote:I used English keywords with Polish translations on kanji/keywordsHave you translated any keywords into Polish? It would be helpful. If anybody has made Polish keywords list, please share it here. Synonyms - thurd - 2010-03-14 Piotoro Wrote:Have you translated any keywords into Polish?I didn't "translate" them, usually its just a mix of 2-3 polish expressions that "fit" this keyword. It's more about my gut feeling rather than competent translation. This also tends to evolve with time, I already changed a couple of them based on what I learned about real usage of specific kanji. But I always leave the Heisig keyword intact even if I find it incorrect (like famous town/village problem). |
