Better sleep with F.lux - vosmiura - 2010-03-06 You can always find cool stuff on RTK Forums .I like it. It says that it will make you more drowsy though, so I wonder if it will reduce evening SRS performance. Better sleep with F.lux - georgative - 2010-03-06 Shit. I was just typing out how cool this thing is, then I right clicked on it in the taskbar next to the clock and my computer spontaneously restarted... Now my computer turns back on, and the program isn't running anymore but my screen is still red. I even uninstalled the thing and it's still red/orange What do I do...? EDIT: After a restart it seems to have gone away... That was kinds scary for a bit =) Better sleep with F.lux - Axlen - 2010-03-06 I tried it at work yesterday and also last night at home. The screen seems rather reddish and dark at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It's much easier on my eyes. I did find one problem with the program under Windows XP at work though. I run a dual monitor display setup and only the #1 monitor is affected by f.lux. The #2 monitor is not affected. I did manually tweak the color temperature of the second display to 6300K though. That also seems a bit easier on my eyes. I'll have to check f.lux site to see if there's a fix or adjustment for that. Better sleep with F.lux - Evil_Dragon - 2010-03-06 Strange, with Windows 7 dual monitors seem to be working perfectly. I remember in high school, getting up at 6:30 in the winter felt like getting up at 2 am. I was going to bed rather early too... It's still tough now, but not nearly as bad. I gunna try this program out too. If it makes the computer screen less harsh, I'll be happy. Better sleep with F.lux - ruiner - 2010-03-07 As a werewolf, I use F.lux to counter the effects of the lunar tides, staving off the transformation. I can't tell you how much it helps to alleviate that dreaded curse. A dread surpassed only by the mindless, gibbering terror of inscrutable Cthulhu. Better sleep with F.lux - mezbup - 2010-03-07 You know normally I go to bed at an ungodly hour and wake up at 1pm. I've started using this in conjunction with leaving the curtain open when I sleep so I get natural light in the morning and it's actually working well for me. The best sleep I ever had was for a very short period where I was out of town and sleeping in my car last year. I couldn't be on the computer til the wee hours and I had to wake when the sun woke me... it was the most regular sleep I ever got. I guess in a way this helps to simulate those conditions... and it really does make the computer easier on the eyes at night. Better sleep with F.lux - Rekkusu - 2010-03-11 Been using this for a week now, can't really say I notice any improvements in my sleep, though the screen defiantly is easier on the eyes at night
Better sleep with F.lux - yo6shi9 - 2010-03-11 It is a nice app but I found that it crashes my old mac powerbook after a while Better sleep with F.lux - jettyke - 2010-03-11 I guess it is easier on the eyes, dunno about sleep, doesnt make sleeping worse at least. Better sleep with F.lux - bebio - 2010-03-11 this is the reason why I love this community, always good tips. this did not solve my sleep schedule, but it sure helps my eyes a lot! I will certainly keep using it! Better sleep with F.lux - Offshore - 2010-03-11 I just downloaded it. Seems very interesting! Better sleep with F.lux - BJohnsen - 2010-03-11 I stayed up late on the computer last night for the first time since installing f.lux a week ago, and sure enough, I had no trouble at all falling asleep afterward. It's amazing. Better sleep with F.lux - Draak - 2010-03-11 Redshift linux works awesome for me so far. I will see if it helps my eyes after a week but i like it so far. Thanks for the sugestion! Better sleep with F.lux - Burritolingus - 2010-03-11 Been trying this baller for about a week now. I dig it! I have it set so it gradually shifts to a warm display in the span of an hour, so I don't even notice the change. I'm not sure if it's helped my whacked sleep schedule at all, but it's definitely easier on my poor, poor eyes. Just try disabling it briefly at night and you'll see what I mean... Better sleep with F.lux - Draak - 2010-03-12 After playing around with redshift I managed to build some scripts for it in Linux. As it does not have ANY Gui and the location thing is dependent on where you are you have to mess around with it to get it to work. Also it seems as though there is a bug where it inverts the gps locations but you simply switch the brightness level around and its the same thing. Alright install the Redlight as per instructions. Then right click create file and edit with gedit. Paste the following code in: #!/bin/bash gtk-redshift -l 43.39:79.23 -t 4600:5600 -g 0.8 -m vidmode -v -l stands for lat long, google your location. xx.xx:xx.xx = lat:long -t stands for brightness levels, i dint like the default 3600 but 4600 is good for my eyes. I had to invert it for it to work properly as for some reason Redlight thinks my location is during the day at night and vice versa. Mess around with it until you like the results. Anyway save it. Right click and edit file Properties, go to Permissions and check-box Allow executing file as program. Then simply dble click and your good! If you want to autostart it in ubuntu then go to System>Preference> Startup Applications and drag the script in. Should work. Happy night-surfing
Better sleep with F.lux - kame3 - 2010-04-01 Been using it for nearly a month now, no problems whatsoever. I (still) like it very much. Recommended it to a friend who has a Mac and he is now also very fond of it. And I would have to say that my SRS at nighttime (last month I mostly did my SRS between 9:30 and 11:30 PM) did not suffer. Highly recommended! Better sleep with F.lux - Evangelo - 2010-04-01 Thanks for this! This is really easy on the eyes and, hopefully, my sleep cycle as well. Better sleep with F.lux - jettyke - 2010-04-11 Yeah, a month for me, and really is easier on my eyes. I recommend it Better sleep with F.lux - Blahah - 2010-04-11 Sounds like fun, and I've noticed my eyes burning quite alot recently. My sleep is pretty good since I started using earplugs at night and a sleep cycle tracking alarm clock (thanks iPhone), but it never hurts to sleep even better! Better sleep with F.lux - Rekkusu - 2010-04-11 Used it for a couple of weeks and was really nice on the eyes at night. Recently though I changed my mac interface to be 'minimal', as such started a quest to destroy every useless menu bar item, destroying programs that don't have the option to hide the menu bar icon. Flux tragically fell during this quest .If anyone uses the mac version and knows how to remove the menu bar icon, please let me know. Else I'll have to do with sore eyes at night
