omoiwazu 思いわず - falling in love - chamcham - 2007-05-06

Can someone tell me if this sentences sounds ok?

思わず、恋に落ちた
Roughly, "without realizing it / without thinking he(or she) fell in love".

Does "omoiwazu" makes sense in this kind of sentence? Or is "omoiwazu" more for doing actions that you do quickly without thinking about it?

I'm trying to express the fact that falling love isn't something that you
decide using logic and reason. It just happens internally and you only know that you've fallen in love well after it happened.

If the sentence is strange, what's a better way to phrase it?

Thanks.

for a start 思いわずomoiwazu should be 思わずに omowazuni shouldn't it?

there are better ways to say it too.

for example:

to fall into.... はまる。

yes, I meant that.
Sorry for the typo.

I've never heard anyone use はまる in that sense, though.
But I'll take your word for it.

i wouldn't take my word for it, i too do not know if it can be used in this sense - love. but i do know that it can be used for things like games, a particular music scene and so on.

ジャズにはまった etc.
